Steve Pierce, age 68 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Cumberland County Hospital. Steve was born on December 16, 1953 in Clinton County, KY to the late Johnnie Eugene and Mary Ellen Upchurch Pierce. He was a former employee of Kingsford Charcoal, Stephens Manufacturing, and Dana Corporation.

Survivors include:
Three sons - Jonathan Pierce (Alicia) of Burkesville, KY, Phillip Pierce (Jamie) of Henderson, KY and Stephen Pierce, Jr (Nikita) of Rockfield, KY 
Two Sisters - Wanda Perdue (Brad) of Burkesville, KY and Frances Pierce of Bowling Green, KY
Six grandchildren - Andrea Mann, Audrey Pierce, Amber Pierce, Jamie Lynn Pierce, Jalaina Pierce, Dawson Pierce and one expectant granddaughter
One great-grandchild - Skylin Rains
 along with Steve's special dog Hank

Sunday, September 04, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Memorial Hill Cemetery in Clinton County, KY. The family requests visitation from 5 P.M. till 9 P.M. Saturday, September 03, 2022 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.

,Ella Hainey, age 75, of Jamestown, KY passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Fairoaks Nursing Home.
She was born on Thursday, March 20, 1947, in Russell Springs, Ky.

She was the daughter of:
Mother - Mary McGowan Wilson, who has preceded her in death
Father - George Wilson, who has preceded her in death

Survivors also include:
1 Daughter:
Donella Hare, of Jamestown KY.
1 Sister:
Ruth Netherton, spouse Ted, of Batesville IN.
1 Brother:
Garlin Wilson, spouse Jane, of Russell Springs KY.
She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Madison Hare and Alyssa (Andrew) Hare McCartin and a host of nieces and nephews . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Della Rexroat and other siblings, Nora Alice Cain, Meredith Wilson, Delano Wilson, George Elno Wilson.

​ She was a former employee of Russell Sportswear and member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church.

All services are private.

He was born September 18, 1973 in Adair County, to the late William Dale “Bill” Cox and Carol Black Cox

Jason was operator and partner in A & J BBQ on East 80 in Adair County

Survivors include:

His son – Aiden Clay Cox of Oldham County
His brother – John Cox of Columbia
His companion – Amy Burton of Columbia
A host of customers and friends

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 4, 2022 after 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home

Betty Corine Bean, 88, of Columbia, KY died Monday, August 29, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.  She was born on June 24, 1934 in Breeding, KY to the late Ray and Delpha Margaret Coomer McKinney.
 
Mrs. Bean was a member of the Wells Chapel Baptist Church and attended Old Concord United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
 
Survivors include her husband of 37 years Wilma Davis Bean of Columbia, KY; two children Randolph Lewis (Ruth Ann) and Vonda Cowan McQueary both of Columbia, KY; two step-children Teresa Wilson (Tim) of Hobart, IN and David Bean (Leanna) of Joliet, IL; grandchildren Nicholas Lewis, Jennifer Lewis and Leanna Franklin (Josh); step-grandchildren Ashley Prokopec, Jessica Wilson, Katelyn Wilson, Brandon Bean and Allison VanKley; great-grandchildren Tanner Lewis, Tatum Lewis, Jayla Franklin and Jeren Franklin and three step great-grandchildren; three siblings J. D. McKinney (Genette) of Breeding, KY, Pat Phipps (Codell) and Phyllis Burris both of Columbia, KY and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two siblings Alfred McKinney and Ruby England.
 
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Fudge Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue on Thursday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
 
Bro. Pat Smith will be officiating and pallbearers will be Nicholas Lewis, Josh Franklin, David Bean, Tanner Lewis, Tim Burris and Roger McKinney.

Bridgette Denise Simpson, the daughter of the late William Fred Simpson, Jr and Shelia Mae Gumm, was born August 6, 1967 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2022 in Campbellsville at her home. She was 55 years of age.
​
    She was a former employee of Magnolia Alley Florist and was of the Christian Faith.

    Survivors include a daughter: Bobbie Jo Obanion; a sister: Carol Brown; her grandchildren: Seamus and Scarlet Huber; two nephews: Joshua Doyle Simpson and Ryan Micah Sears and special friend: Lois Brown.

    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Kellie Rae Obanion-Allen.

To honor the request of Bridgette, cremation rites were entrusted to
L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

Ann Waggener Melton 1959-2022

Ann Waggener Melton, 63, of Columbia, Kentucky, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 29, 2022 at her daughter’s residence.

She was born February 7, 1959, in Adair County, to the late Dan C. and Peggy Janes Waggener.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant grandchild, Bailey Fletcher.
​

Ann graduated from Adair County High School in 1977 and at the age of 17 started her political career which lasted for 38 years.  She was Deputy Clerk for the late Robert M. White, Deputy Clerk for Joyce C. Rodgers, elected County Clerk and served two terms and then was elected County Judge-Executive (being the first female to be elected County Judge) and served two terms.  She was a member of Columbia-Union Presbyterian Church.
​

Survivors include:
Her husband – Gary Melton of Columbia
Her six children – Brian (Cindy) Melton of Columbia, Stacy (Jackie) Cox of Columbia, Kevin (Brian) Melton of Alexandria, Brian Fletcher of Columbia, Eric (Jennifer) Melton of Columbia,  Katie (Sarah Popp) Melton of Louisville
Her brother – Dan (Cindi) Waggener of Columbia
The joy of her heart, 12 grandchildren – Tristan Reece, Madison McCloud, Meghan Wiggins, Madison Berczynski, Reagan Fletcher, Briley Melton, Payton Fletcher, Wesley Melton, Alivia Rowe, Emily Melton, Luke Melton, Abigail Melton and her three great-grandchildren, Millie Reece, Rhett McCloud and Carter Choate
Two nephews – Will (Jordan) Waggener and Michael Waggener
And her grand-dog – Lily Melton Popp

Mary Alice Meadows 1939-2022

Mary Alice Meadows of the Mell Ridge Community of Metcalfe County, daughter of the late Elbert Posey and Mae Rodgers Posey, was born on Thursday, July 13, 1939 in Green County and departed this life on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the Metcalfe Health Care Center. She was 83 years, one month, and 15 days of age. 
​

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Maple Hill United Methodist Church where she was very active and was a member of the church choir. She was a retired machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, Inc. She loved her cows and farming, enjoyed cooking, gardening, but her family was her pride and joy. 
​

She united in marriage to Garlin Heston “Tood” Meadows on February 26, 1954 who preceded her in death on January 18, 1996. 

Survivors include seven grandchildren: Daniel Matney, Joseph Matney, Lora and Brian Keltner all of Greensburg, Tracy and Donnie Price, Angela and Chris Lewis all of Campbellsville, Jonathan Meadows of Edmonton, and Jeremy and Rachel Meadows of Lebanon; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Connie Patterson of Taylor County, Peggy and Ken Curry of Green County, and Linda and Tommy Hall of Summersville; a brother: Loren Posey of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Mrs. Meadows was also preceded in death by a a daughter: Patsy Matney; three sons: Gary Meadows, Jerry Meadows, and Bruce Meadows; a great-grandson: Daniel Cody Matney; and nine siblings: Brenda Fay Matney, Mary Lou Edwards, L.P. Posey, Sam Posey, Billy Gene Posey, James Ray Posey, Everett Posey, and two still born. 

The funeral services for Mary Alice Meadows will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Central Time, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Wednesday until time of the funeral service. 

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Maple Hill Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

Marie Grider, age 87 of Burkesville, Kentucky(the Amandaville Community) passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Cumberland County Hospital. Marie was born on January 23, 1935 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Carmel and Birtie Firkin Grider. She was a member of Amandaville Christian Church, a former employee of Bob Evans and a lifelong farmer.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Guy Grider, three sisters Mae Shaw, Gladys Tweedy, and Ruby Shaw and nephew David Shaw.

Survivors Include:
One Nephew- Freddie Shaw of Burkesville, KY
Two Nieces- Brenda Shaw of Somerset, KY and Sue Burton of Columbia, KY
Great Niece and Nephews- Charlea Shaw, Adam Shaw, and Evan Shaw
along with a host of other relatives and friends

Troy Jay Durrett 1967-2022

Troy Jay Durrett of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Ancil Adwin “Bug” Durrett and Wilma Hall Durrett, was born on Thursday, August 10, 1967 in Green County and departed this life on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at his home. He was 55 years and 18 days of age. 

He had made a profession of faith and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. He was a lineman for 5-Star Electric and was a contractor. He also previously worked at Aluminum Fabricators. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, while also being a gifted craftsman. 
​

Survived by his wife of 31 years, Marla Gay Elkins Durrett of Green County having united in marriage on June 8, 1991. 
Other survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law: Tanner and Gretchen Durrett of Summersville and Gannen Durrett of Greensburg; three grandchildren: Evie Durrett, Indi Durrett, and Brooks Durrett; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Mike and Judy Durrett, Steve and Stella Durrett all of Summersville; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ronnie Bishop of Summersville, Angie and Troy Houk of Greensburg, and Danny and Megan Elkins of Summersville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
​

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister and brother: Sharon Durrett Bishop and Don Douglas Durrett. 

The funeral services for Troy Jay Durrett will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Central Time, Thursday, September 1. 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Bro. Casey Durrett and Bro. Dennis Penick officiating. 
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Thursday until time of the funeral service.

She was born on Sunday, December 18, 1938, in Pikeville, Kentucky.

She was the daughter of:
Mother - Dolly Honaker Chapman, who has preceded her in death
Father - Berlin Chapman, who has preceded her in death

Mabel Hunt, spouse Burgess of Weber City, VA., Teresa Hunt, spouse Darrell, of Russell Springs, KY., Anna Patrick, spouse Steve, of Glasgow, KY. and  Yvonne Ray, spouse Eddie, of Maryville, TN.

Harold Hunt, of Russell Springs, KY., Donnie Hensley, spouse Connie, of Columbia, KY. and

She was a homemaker and member of Living Stone Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roby Hensley Sr., two sons, Roby Hensley Jr. and L D Hensley, one grandson, Chester Hunt, six brothers, Arnold Lee, Rush, Jeff, Leaman, Ben and Wade Chapman a sister, Nancy Sue Anderson and daughter-in-law, Brenda Lee Hunt.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 01 2022 at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 9:00 PM Tuesday, August 30 2022 and Wednesday August 31, 2022 4:00 - 9:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY.
Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery, Columbia, KY.
