G.B. Taylor, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at his home. He was 79.

Born on May 21, 1941, in Bell County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Charles Lee and Mary Woolum Taylor. He was a retired machinist. G.B. was a life-long auto enthusiast. He built many hot rods and motorcycles and enjoyed attending car shows. He was an honest man with a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by two sisters, Wanda Lutes and Vivian Egbert of Louisville; and a brother, Donald Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time.

Vanhoy Johnson

Vanhoy Johnson passed from this earth December 29, 2020, at his home in Hillsboro, Indiana.  He was born in Russell County, Kentucky, September 20, 1932.

He was the son of Otha Anderson Johnson and Lena Snow (Orton) Sharp. He was preceded in death by a brother, Welby Johnson; a sister, Julie Ann Johnson; and a still born son, Van Johnson, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Patty (Cook) Johnson, whom he married July 9, 1955; a sister, Robby Nell Lloyd of Hamilton, Illinois; a brother, Jerome “Jerry” (Carmen) Johnson of Copperopolis, California; a son, Gary (Joanie) Johnson of Veedersburg, Indiana; a daughter, Judy (Matt) Ross of DeMossville, Kentucky; grandkids, Abby (Brian) Harshbarger of Hillsboro, Indiana, Stephen (Leanne) Johnson of Lafayette, Indiana; step grandkids, Monica Ross of Foster, Kentucky, and Eric Ross of DeMossville, Kentucky; Great-grandkids, Julia Harshbarger, Jacob Harshbarger, Josie Harshbarger, Libby Johnson, Gwyn Johnson, all of Indiana.

Van retired from Ford Motor Co. truck plant in Louisville Kentucky. He lived in Louisville until his retirement and then Russell Springs, Kentucky for over 20 years, moving to Hillsboro, Indiana, in 2017. He loved to hunt and fish. In 2018, at age 86, he limited on his first day of dove season. He was a loyal University of Kentucky Basketball fan all his life.

He was known for his quiet strength, his humble heart, his love for His Lord, and his complete devotion to the love of his life, Patty, for 65 years.

 He was a member of the South Jefferson Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, then Russell Springs Christian Church in Russell Springs, Kentucky, and then the Sterling Christian Church, in Veedersburg, Indiana.

Friends may call at the Bernard Funeral Home, Russell Springs, on Tuesday, January 5th, from 5:00-8:00 P.M.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 6th, at 11:00 A.M. with Carroll Egnew and Chris Peters officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeder Cemetery.

Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance. Facial coverings are required.

Brigadier General Noah Edward Loy

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on the morning of December 29, 2020, Noah Edward Loy past away, at the age of 82, just one day after his 64th wedding anniversary. 

Noah Edward Loy was born in Fordsville, Ky, to Kavanaugh A. and Susan M. Loy on December 23, 1938.  He graduated from Campbellsville High School, Ky, in 1956, where he would also meet his life long partner, Joan Sharon Caulk.  “Edward” graduated from the University of Kentucky on May 30, 1960 and entered pilot training in the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant on June 24, 1960.

General Loy’s career included serving two tours in Vietnam (1967 and 1973).  As a combat pilot, he amassed 239 missions, with more than 500 combat hours over Laos, Cambodia, North and South Vietnam. He spent much of his career overseas in England and Germany as part of the NATO command, serving most notably as a Squadron Operations Officer, Squadron Commander, Base Commander, Vice Wing and eventually Wing Commander. General Loy would finish his career serving essential roles at the Pentagon (Washington D.C.). After completing 30 years of distinguished service he retired as a Brigadier General on September 1, 1990.

General Loy was a command pilot with over 4800 flying hours in fighter and training aircraft with military decorations that would include: the Distinguish Service Medal, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal with fifteen Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Republic of Viet Nam Gallantry Cross with Silver Star. He also received the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal for service with the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. 

General Loy and his wife Joan retired to Campbellsville, Ky in 1990. He would spend another 18 years consulting for various aerospace companies and associations. He also donated time serving the local community and his church. 

Edward is survived by his wife, Joan, and two sons, Michael and David, and their families which includes, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two sisters Susan Loy Freudenthal of West Palm Beach and Linda Loy Aaron of St. Petersburg, Florida. 

Uncle Ed loved and admired his many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, too many to name. Ed Loy was called by many names and titles through his distinguished career and life, but his favorite title was “Poppie”

George Thomas Keltner

George Thomas Keltner, 94, of Columbia, KY died Monday, December 28, 2020 at his residence.  Born on July 18, 1926 in Mell Ridge, KY he was the son of the late Thomas Alfred and Montrie Blaydes Keltner. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years Bobbie Sizemore Keltner, two daughters Lisa Carol Keltner and Jennifer Keltner and six siblings Carl David, Rollin, and Jesse Keltner, Alta Marie Finn, Mozetta Hatcher, and Mary Keltner.  


George enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 at the age of 17.  He served during World War II in Italy and North Africa.  Upon returning home, George moved to Manchester, KY where he worked at his brother-in-law’s grocery store until the start of the Korean Conflict, when he once again enlisted.  After that he came home and met the love of his life, Bobbie Sizemore and they married in 1959.  They settled in Stanford, KY until 1964 when they moved to Columbia and built K & F Grocery, which they owned and operated until 1988.  Following his retirement, George worked at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home as greeter for 25 years.

He was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees, as a Sunday School Teacher, and unofficial greeter.  His greatest friends were made at his church and he was a dedicated Christian and servant.  George worked tirelessly for the Republican Party and served as the local party chairman for many years.

George dearly loved his family, including his many nieces and nephews.  His favorite occasions were when he was surrounded by family.  Many wonderful hours were spent at his kitchen table with a cup of coffee, stories of his past, and lots of laughter.  He was incredibly witty and quick with a joke.

Survivors include two daughters Leslie Keltner and Alissa Barnes (Bob) both of Columbia, KY and five grandchildren Elise Murrell of Lexington, KY, Charlotte Murrell of Columbia, KY, Thomas Murrell of Lexington, KY, Payton Barnes of Nashville, TN and Logan Barnes (Emily) of Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Columbia United Methodist Church with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.  A walk-thru visitation will be from 9:00-11:00am Thursday at the church.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

Phillip Bolt, age 57 of Shepherdsville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 28, 2020 surrounded by his family.  He was a Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville. He was born in Casey County, Kentucky on March 5, 1963 to Nathen and Charlotte Bolt.  He had appreciation for nature and enjoyed caring for animals; chickens, geese and especially his dog.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, April and sister, Debbie Lawson.  He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Nathen and Charlotte Bolt; his wife of 20 years, Tonya Bolt; his children, Crystal Humphrey (Fred), Eva Watson (David), Kevin Bolt (Michaelle) and Marcie Oller; his siblings, Norma Bolt and Glen Bolt (Sharon); his mother-in-law, Betty Oller; 18 grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of church family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 12 pm at First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville, 254 S. Buckman Street in Shepherdsville.  Graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 1 pm at Cold Springs Cemetery, W. Hwy 70, Liberty, Kentucky, 42539.  Friends may pay their respects on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 9 am until 12 pm at First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville.

Joe Douglas, age 44, passed away at his home in Liberty on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, surrounded by family.

Born August 25, 1976, in Cincinnati, OH, he was a son of Malcolm Douglas and Shirley Hamm Smith. Joe graduated high school in Franklin, IN in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. He also had a “green thumb” when it came to trees and poinsettias. Joe liked classic and muscle cars.

Survivors include his father, Malcolm Douglas of Liberty; mother, Shirley (and Mike) Smith of Trafalgar, IN; brother, David Douglas of Liberty; sister, Denise (and Jr.) Sheene of Liberty; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, January 3, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Whited Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 on Sunday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Brandi Nicole Marcum of Campbellsville, daughter of Larry Marcum and Darlene Wilson Marcum, was born September 26, 1980 in Taylor County, Kentucky.   She died at 8:18 P.M., Monday, December 28, 2020 in Elizabethtown.   Age:  40

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Saloma Baptist Church.  Brandi loved Jesus and her church.  

She was a fun-loving person and a die-hard Kentucky Wildcats fan.  Brandi had never met a stranger and hugged everybody and told them she loved them.

She is survived by her parents, Larry and Darlene Marcum of Campbellsville; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Laura Lee Marcum of Campbellsville; two nephews:  Luke Marcum and Landon Marcum of Campbellsville; one step-nephew, Weston Mitchell and wife, Autumn, of Greensburg; one step-great-nephew, Elijah Cole Mitchell; one step-great-niece, Khloe Lea Mitchell; several aunts, uncles and cousins and many other relatives and friends.

James Montie Helm, 86, of Shepherdsville, KY passed away Monday, December 28th, while in the company of family members, at his daughters residence. . 

James was born in Jamestown, Ky on July 4, 1934, a son of the late Lizzie (Warriner) and Robert Helm. 

He was the husband of Juanita (Collins) Helm. 

James is survived by a daughter, Drema, wife of Robert Harris, of Shepherdsville, KY; 

James is also survived by a sister, Geneva Walters, of Jamestown, KY; 
three brothers, Marvin Helm, of Jamestown, KY; Roy Helm of Louisville, KY, Roger Helm, of Jamestown, KY. 

He is also survived by 2 Grandchildren Robert Harris, IV and Jessica Warner wife of Blake. two Step Grandchildren. 

Funeral Service is Thursday at from H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel. 

Services are private at the convenience of family at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, Jamestown,, KY,. 

Walk through visitiation Thursday 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel.

Golda Crawford, 77, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Monday, December 28th, at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab, Campbellsville, KY. 

Golda was born in New Castle, IN on September 3, 1943, a daughter of the late Eva (Lucy) and Audie Blankenship. 

Golda is also survived by 
a sister, Wanda Wooldridge 
a brother, Daryl Blankenship 

She is preceded in death by her daughter Tamara Crawford.

Carl Lewis Froedge age 76 of Columbia, KY passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. Carl was born on January 25, 1944 in Adair County, KY to the late William McKinley Froedge and Pearl Parson Froedge.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Bell Froedge, two daughters, Teresa Rhinehart and Donna Jean Froedge, one grandson, Jeremy Eugene Gross, five brothers, Emmitt, Lester, Cecil, Wesley, and J.C. Froedge and two sisters, Marie McInteer and Ann Maesk. 

Carl was a member of New Concord Community Church and a former minister of Columbia Community Church.

Three Daughters- Melissa Richards(Johnny) and Libby Fields(Ricky) both of Columbia, KY and Lisa Gross of Tompkinsville, KY
One Brother- Coy Froedge of Columbia, KY
