Vaudie Lee Griffin, 84 of Hustonville passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Born December 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Mitchell and Retna Todd Griffin. He was a deacon at Moreland Christian Church. He was a US Navy veteran, serving our nation during the Korean Conflict. Vaudie and his brother, Verlon had owned and operated Griffin Brothers Sunoco in Moreland.

Vaudie was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Cress Griffin; brothers and sisters: Leona Whitis, Boneta Griffin, June Roberts, Joan Davis, Wilma Kelley, Bernard Griffin, Oather Griffin and Lodema Nevels.

He is survived by two sons: Gary (Teresa) Griffin of Garrard County and Mitch (Teresa) Griffin of Stanford; six brothers: Dean (Devonda), Verlon (Ellen), Elroy, Leroy (Dorothy), Blaine (Mary Lou) and V.J. Griffin; five grandchildren: Josh, Matt (Jennifer), Tyler (Kristen), Brandon (Hannah) and Jordan; and two great grandchildren: Emma and Evie. 

Services will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday at Moreland Christian Church by Rev. Ethan Smith with burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation is after 11:00 am, Tuesday. 

Memorial Contributions suggested to Moreland Christian Church Building Fund.

Pauline Kerr of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Griffin B. Chewning and Cecil Ella Todd Chewning, was born February 23, 1926, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 6:15 A.M., Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Greensburg. Age: 90 

She was united in marriage to Howard Kerr September 11, 1953. He preceded her in death June 9, 1999. 

She was a retired sales and bookkeeping employee. 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. 

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Sherry Kerr of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Thomas Kerr of Campbellsville and Sarah Kerr Coomer and husband, Dallas of Ft. Lee, Virginia; two great-grandchildren: Shayla Coomer and Denver Coomer; one brother and one sister: Bobby Chewning and wife, Peggy, and Mary Jean Jeffries of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. 

She was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters: William A. Chewning May 28, 1998, Katherine Chewning February 14, 1916, Alma Philpott October 30, 2010 and Genevieve Tarter March 8, 2011.

Jimmy Carl Johnson, age 63, of Lake Station, IN passed away on Tuesday June 28th, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Liberty, KY on October 19th, 1952 to the late Russell Woodson and Laura Bell Stafford Johnson.

Jimmy was a truck driver and a U.S. Army Veteran. 

Survivors include: Three Daughters: Laura LaDawn Burke of Gibsonville, N.C., Harla Christian of Georgetown, KY and Ashley Michelle Johnson of Fair Oaks, IN, One Son: Jimmy Shane Johnson of Rensselaer, IN, Five Grandchildren, Two Brothers: Gerald Johnson of California and Estill Johnson of Liberty and Two Sisters: Deloris Johnson of Lake Station, IN and Judy Daniel of Liberty. 

Preceding him death besides his parents are Three Sisters: Irene Harness, Lucille Lucas and Fern Downs.

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Saturday July 2nd, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 9:00 A.M. Sunday July 3rd, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday July 3rd, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Caney Fork Cemetery.

Bobbie Grider, age 91 of Russell Springs, died Thursday, June 29th at his residence.
He was the son of the late Claude and Nola Aaron Grider.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Alene Hale Grider on February 3, 2016.

He was a farmer and carpenter, and served his country honorably in the United States Army in both World War II and Korean War.

He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

He is survived by 3 sisters in laws:
Mildred Hale, Betty Hale and Fostene Rexroat all of Russell Springs as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at NOON on Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bodie Emerson officiating. Special music will be provided by Mt. Pleasant Church Choir. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 on Saturday at the funeral home.

William Claude Spaw, 90, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on September 11, 1925, son of the late William Hershel and Gertie Ethel Thompson Spaw. He was the oldest living member of Science Hill United Methodist Church and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Jean Cain Spaw of Science Hill, one son, Larry Parker & (Pati) Spaw, one daughter, Patty & (Jim) Laflin, both of Cincinnat, OH, seven siblings, Betty Smith, Shirley Flynn, Ronald Spaw, Eunice Norfleet, Geneva Romines, Sandra Utley and Judy Hoffman, grandchildren, William Michael Laflin, Rhea Michelle Anderson, James Eric Laflin, Aaron Shayne Laflin,Timothy Damian Spaw and Jeremy Douglas Spaw thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Josephine Spaw, his parents, siblings, Millard Spaw, Stanley Spaw, Tony Spaw, Johnny Spaw and Martha Hughes.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, July 1, 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating.

Burial will be in Valley Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 12 Noon Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Kirby Carman of Kings Mountain, KY passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was 75.

Born August 7, 1940 in Casey County, KY, he is the son of the late Eunice Boone and Della Elliott Carman. He was a farmer. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Mae Singleton Carman, who died May 19, 2016; two sons, David and Danny Carman; two brothers, Roger and Conrad Carman; and a sister, Berdena Carman.

Survivors include two daughter, Louise (and John) Hines of Mintonville and Debbie (and Gary) Luttrell of Yosemite; daughter -in –law, Jeannie Carman of Kings Mountain; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Minnie Carman Spears of Danville and Faustine Coffey of Martinsville, Indiana.

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in Salyers Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and will continue Friday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral service.

Norman Patrick Brady, Age 56, of Saint Joseph, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1959 in Lebanon, KY. Mr. Brady was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

He is survived by: Son: Patrick Lee Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY. Grandson: Bentley Joe Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY. Mother: Jeanine Bland Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY. Three Sisters: Evelyn Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY; Connie Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY; Janet (Jerome) Dixon-- Campbellsville. Four Brothers: Joey Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY; Paul Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY; Travis Brady-- Saint Joseph, KY; Bucky (Holly) Brady-- Lebanon, KY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Raywick, with interment to follow in the Saint Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Bosley Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Bosley Funeral Home, officiated by Deacon Joe Dant.

Dr. Joe. L. Evans

Dr. Joe. L. Evans, age 85, died quietly at home in Danville, KY on Friday, June 24, 2016. 
Born in Marion County, KY on June 27, 1930, he was preceded in death by his parents, Lida Glasscock Evans and Samuel G. Evans, and two brothers, George Barkley Evans and William Wallace Evans, Sr. 

Joe completed his BS and MS degrees at the University of Kentucky. During two years of service in the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Korea. Joe received his Doctorate in Nutrition from the University of Florida. He joined Rutgers University, NJ in 1959 where for 32 years he taught and conducted research in Animal Nutrition until his retirement as Professor and appointment as Professor Emeritus in 1992. He received the Gustav Bohstedt award for his research in mineral and trace elements. He was a member of the boards of several professional societies and served as Director for the Northeast Section of the American Society of Animal Science from 1980 to 1982. He served as committee chairman for fifty graduate students. He also raised pure-bred Polled Hereford cattle on his farm in Marion County, KY. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gail Hopper Evans; his daughters, Heather Lea Agosto and her husband, Jim, of Whithouse Station, NJ and Kerry Jo Dillon of Gahanna, OH; four granddaughters, Erin and Sara Agosto and Kaylea and Kendra Dillon; a sister, Ann Evans Settles and her Husband, Kirtley W. Settles of Danville, KY; two sisters-in-law, Ann Evans of Campbellsville, KY and Joan Hopper of Bowling Green, KY and several nieces and nephews. 

A celebration-of-his-life service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon, KY, immediately followed by interment in Hayesville Cemetery at Beech Fork Baptist Church. The presiding minister will be Dr. David Whitlock.

Pallbearers will be Jim Agosto, Tyler Blythe, William Wallace Evans, Samuel Evans, and Danny Settles. 

Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Evans' home following interment.

Marjorie Louis Richeson Wilson

Marjorie Louis Richeson Wilson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late J.W. “Willie” Richeson and Nora Robinson Richeson, was born October 27, 1928, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 9:42 P.M., Sunday, June 26, 2016, in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Age: 87. 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Early’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as church secretary and treasurer and Sunday school teacher and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was a Farm Bureau Federation secretary and tax consultant for some 36 years; prior to that she was a tax consultant at H&R Block. She was an accomplished seamstress, and as a 4-H leader, she taught many young ladies to sew.
She united in marriage to Buford Wilson on December 4, 1948. 

Besides her husband, Buford Wilson of Campbellsville, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Paul Akridge of Campbellsville; three granddaughters: Mariah Akridge of California, Sarah Jefferson of Georgia and Mary Jefferson of Texas; special friend and caregiver, Dellen Shabazz; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carrie Matherly, August 24, 2010.
