Cornelius Leo Ford 1941-2022

Cornelius Leo Ford of Calvary, Kentucky, passed away April 30, 2022, at Cedars of Lebanon at the age of 80.  He was born on July 22, 1941, in Marion County, Kentucky.  He was an Army veteran, a retired employee of Angell-Demmel, an avid gardener and a lifelong member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Spalding (Jodie) Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Mattingly Ford, brothers Joseph Spalding (Joe Joe) Ford, Jr., Benedict Abell (Ben) Ford, Francis Harold (Curly) Ford, Robert Mattingly Ford, and one granddaughter, Olivia Sue Ford.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Ellen Rice Ford of Lebanon, two sons, David Leo (Jennifer) Ford of Calvary, Kevin Glenn (Ellen) Ford of Lebanon and Tammy Lynn (Rick) Wilson of Campbellsville.

Also surviving are siblings, James (Nancy) Ford of Louisville, Lawrence (Barbara) Ford of Mount Washington, Mary Vuncannon of Louisville, Virginia Green of Holy Cross, Kathleen (Harold) Young of Lebanon, and Dorothy (Mike) Riggs of Calvary; two sisters-in-law, Linda Ford and Rita Ford of Calvary; seven grandchildren, Emily Ford, Benjamin Buckman, Sarah Jane Ford, Eric Wilson, Robbie Wilson, Connor Wilson, Aidan Wilson; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday May 4, 2022, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Calvary. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
​
Pallbearers will be Connor Wilson, Aidan Wilson, Steve Green, Michael Ford, Mike Ford, Larry Ford, Jodie Riggs and Matthew Riggs.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Calvary Store Breakfast Bunch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Olivia Ford Scholarship Fund, Mass of the Air or Hosparus.

Dwight (Smiley) Richards, 79, of Jamestown, KY, passed away Saturday, April 30th, at Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs. 

Smiley was born in Jamestown, KY on January 29, 1943, a son of the late Bessie (Hoskins) and Orvis Richards. 

He was a Retired Maintenance Worker at the Lake Cumberland State Dock. 

He was the widower of Carol (Hudson) Richards. 

Smiley is survived by 
a son, Dwight Wayne (Tad) husband of Vickie Richards, of Jamestown, KY; 
a step-daughter, Debbie Warriner, of Anderson, IN; 
a step-son, Charles Kimbler, of Avon Lake, OH; 
a brother, Kent, husband of Judy Richards, of Frankfort, KY. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Carol (Hudson) Richards 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 4th at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY with Bro. Scott Russell officiating. 

Public Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 3rd and 9:00 AM till time of funeral on Wednesday, May 4th at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY. 

Burial in the Ridgecrest Cemetery, Jamestown, KY.

Lydia N. (de la Zerda) Turner 1938-2022

Lydia N. Turner, 83, formerly of 104 Marshall St. Columbia, KY died Saturday, April 30 at 4:15 pm at Summerfield Rehab and Wellness Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  She was born on September 16, 1938 to the late Arturo and Olga de la Zerda of Floresville, Texas.  

Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Brock of London, KY; two sons Arthur L. Turner and his wife Tammy of Louisville, KY and Charlie R. Turner and his wife Carla of Liberty, KY; one sister Connie Mass of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Lewis Turner. They were married for 33 years. She will be remembered as a loving woman devoted to her faith, family, and friends. She was also an active and committed parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Columbia.

Visitation will take place at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 4 from 4:00-8:00pm with a Vigil service at 6:00pm conducted by Father Paul Eve.  Visitation will continue on Thursday morning at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home until 10:45am.
A Funeral Mass will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1217 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY on Thursday, May 5 at 11:00am with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.
Father Patrick Dolan will celebrate the Funeral Mass.  Pallbearers will be Joshua Turner, Nicholas Turner, Vincent Turner, Derek Summers, Dave Brock, and Jerry Giles.

Honorary: Robert Flowers, Mark Dykes, Bryan Caldwell, Larry Dudley, Jack Garrett, Richard Fitzpatrick, Darrell Jones, and David Bowman.

Mary Elizabeth Burton, 74, of Mount Sherman, Kentucky, formerly of Columbia, died Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

She was born November 28, 1947, in Adair County, to the late James O. and Mae Roy Burton.

Mary had been at Greensburg Family Care Home for the last three years with Veronica Bell as her caretaker.

She is survived by a special friend, Norma Scott of Columbia and a friend, Virginia Garner of Russell Springs

Funeral service – Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home

Mrs. Marie (Smith) Curry, 92, of Columbia, KY died on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at T.J. Health Columbia.  She was born August 4, 1929 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Willie Peyton and Elsie Edens Smith.

Mrs. Curry was a homemaker and member of Columbia Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Curry, on April 6, 2019.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Manette Holmes, and two brothers, Jack Smith and Harold Smith.

She is survived by two sons Gary Vernon Curry (Peggy) of Columbia, KYand Robert Lynn Curry (Sherry) of Frankfort, KY; three grandchildren Jason Curry of Columbia, KY and Jonathan Curry (Selena) and Lauren Germond (Alec) both of Frankfort; four great grandchildren Meadow Lynne Curry, Roland Lynne Curry, Merritt Marie Germond and Bowen Alec Germond all of Frankfort, KY; a sister, Nancy Bagozzi of Humble, Texas and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Darlus Carender 1943-2022

Darlus Carender, of Jabez, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at his home.  He was 79 years of age.

Darlus was born in the Panhandle Community of Jabez on March 28, 1943, son of the late Buford and Emma Oakes Carender.  He worked many years for the Lear Siegler Company, of Ferguson, then spent several years with the State Highway Department. 

He loved landscaping and birdwatching.  Darlus was an animal lover and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.  He loved being with his family and friends.

Darlus is survived by his sons, Bruce Carender and Troy (and Brandy) Carender, both of Jabez; and his grandchildren, Chloe Carender and Jada Carender.

Along with his parents, Darlus is preceded in death by his dear wife, Sue, who passed away on May 21, 2021.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., CST, Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Mark Polston officiating.  Interment will follow in Military Springs Cemetery, in Jabez.  Pallbearers will be Troy Carender, Steve Luttrell, Tim Oakes, Austin McDonald, Edward Jernigan and Bill McDonald.
Visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m., CST, Sunday, until time for services.

Elijah Blake Ammons, infant son of Tyler Blake Ammons and Savannah Lynn Wilham, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, in Liberty, KY. He was 56 days old.

Born March 4, 2022, in Lexington, KY, he is survived by his parents Tyler and Savannah; brother, Bentlee Mills; paternal grandparents, Jason and Jilena Ammons; maternal grandfather, Duane Wilham (and Kimberly); paternal great-grandmother, Larraine Baay (and Duane); maternal great-grandmother, Glenda Prosser; paternal great-grandfather, Roy Allen; paternal great-grandmother, Brenda Dobeck; maternal great-grandfather, David Wilham (and Norma); paternal great-great-grandmother, Hazel Maxwell; maternal great-great-grandmother, Versie Wilham; aunt, Ashley (and Christian) Hundley; and uncle, Ethan Ammons (and Stephanie Ritter).

Beverly Ann Wesley, age 63 of Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday April 29th, 2022, at her residence. She was born March 4, 1959, in Liberty, KY, a daughter of the late Ancil and Violet Louise Lawless Buis.

Beverly was the former co-owner and operator of WKDO.

Beverly was the widow of Carlos Wesley.

Survivors include: One Son: Brandon and (Ashley) Mills of Windsor, Two Grandchildren: Chloe and Brody Mills both of Windsor, Three Brothers: Tony and (Terry Jo) Buis, Timothy and (Tara) Buis and Terry Craig Buis all of Liberty and One Sister: Susan Weddle of Somerset.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was One Brother: Steve Buis and Two Sisters: Melissa Price and Linda Buis.

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Wednesday May 4th, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday May 5th, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will be in the Rich Hill Cemetery.

​Emma Maxileen Williams, age 92 of Nicholasville, KY, passed away on Thursday April 28, 2022, at The Willows of Harrodsburg. She was born March 11th, 1930, in Argyle, KY, a daughter of the late Noble Wesley and Manilla Rader McAninch.

Maxileen was a homemaker, an exceptional seamstress and quilter and was a member of Crosswoods Baptist Church in Nicholasville, KY.

Maxileen was the widow of Harold Kanard Williams.

Survivors include: One Son: Danny and (Angie) Williams of Frankfort, KY, One Daughter: Dana and (Tim) McCullar of Versailles, KY, One Daughter-in-law: Donna Williams of Versailles, KY, Seven Grandchildren: Gina and (Eddie) Alexander, Delena and (Tyler) Johnson, Wesley and (Meghan) Williams, Maria Williams, Lorin and (Casey) Browning, Josh and (Sara) Corman and Bethany and (Brad) Burton, Twenty One Great Grandchildren, and Two Brothers: Tom McAninch of Ohio and Wallace and (Brenda) McAninch of Florida.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse were One Son: Eddie Williams, Three Brothers: James, Dayton and Lee McAninch.

Jerry Wayne “Hardhead” Muncie of Campbellsville, son  of the late Lanous Muncie and Imogene Walker Muncie was born November 21, 1940 in Adair County, Kentucky.  He died at 11:45 P.M., Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Campbellsville.   Age: 81
​
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Jerry was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, having also served as a prison guard at LaGrange for three years.

He was a member of the Pitman Mason Lodge #124 F & AM.

Jerry was an avid fisherman, but was best known as a great husband, father, and papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He united in marriage to Faye White August 11, 1979.

Besides his wife, Faye White Muncie of Campbellsville, Jerry is survived by one son and one daughter: Jeff Muncie and wife, Lee Ann, and Cheryl Harmon of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Janis Megan Harmon and Jeffrey David Muncie and wife, Lindsey of Campbellsville; three great-grandchildren: Tatum Hoskins, Ava Muncie and Cale Muncie; one sister, Carlotta Richardson and husband, Jim of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Danny Muncie.
