Judy Lynn Grant, 57, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11:04 A.M. at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born November 5, 1964, in Adair County.  Preceding her in death was her father, Creon Melson and two brothers, Eric and Timmy Melson.  Judy was a member of Melson Ridge Separate Baptist Church and Co-Owner of Melson Roofing.

Survivors include:
Her husband – Tony Grant of Columbia
Her mother – Betty Coomer Melson of Columbia
One daughter – Audrey Benham of Columbia
One brother – Richie and his wife Angie Melson of Columbia
One sister – Rhonda and her husband David Begley of Coburg
Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Anna Nell Smith, 72, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11:40 P.M. at her home.

She was born September 10, 1949, in Adair County, to the late David Lee and Annabelle Shirley Taylor.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonda Taylor. 
Anna Nell was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Choir and served on the Usher Board for many years and was widely known as “The nice lady that draws blood at Dr, Giles’ office.”

Survivors include:
Her husband – Freddy Smith of Columbia
Two children – Valeka Miller of Columbia and Kendrick Smith of Lexington
Three grandchildren – Derrick Miller, Za’Kia Miller and Raven (Brent) Sartin
Two great-grandchildren – Finley and Cohen Sartin
Two sisters – Rhonda Taylor of Bowling Green and Valenia (David) Johnson of Columbia
Three brothers – Danny Taylor of Columbia, Kevin (Lisa) Taylor of Somerset and Erik Stapleton of Columbia
Several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends

Ruthie Maurine (Andrew) Hughes

​Maurine Hughes, 98, of Glens Fork, Kentucky, passed away on February 26, 2022 due to natural causes at her daughters residence in Pendleton, IN. 

Ruthie Maurine Hughes was born on May 16, 1923 to the late W. G. Andrew and Minnie Turner Andrew.  Maurine was born and raised in Glens Fork, Kentucky - her favorite place in the world, where she met/married the love of her life and also raised her children. She married her husband, Adolph Hughes on August 16, 1941.  

Maurine was a southern belle, she enjoyed the simple things in life - her family, friends, church, and the countryside. She especially loved calling her daughter every evening to discuss the day's events and their next jewelry purchase. She was a devout Christian and shared her faith with everyone she met and attended the Glensfork Church of the Nazarene. 

Maurine is survived by daughter, Barbara Vibbert (Harold), grandchildren Kelly Kirchner (David), Jamey Vibbert (Nicki), 7 great grandchildren Stephen, Jeremy and Devon Humphries, Breanna, Cody, Kaylee and Corbin Vibbert and 3 great great grandchildren along with several cousins, nieces, Ima Dean, Pamela, great niece Chareal Lynn, nephews and her beloved friends. Maurine always made her family a priority and had a special relationship with each of them. She is preceded in death by her husband and son, James E. Hughes “Bud”.
 
Funeral services
will be 1:00pm Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be after 10:00am Wednesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
 
Bro. Jay Damron, Bro. Brian Fudge and Bro. Scott Cooksey will be officiating and pallbearers will be Stephen Humphries, Jeremy Humphries, Jerry Collins, Tony Aaron, Barry Hixson, Jason Collins, GaVon Antle and Timmy Kelly.

Gary R. Marcum, 64, of Jamestown, KY, passed away Sunday, February 27th, at his residence. 

Gary was born in Jamestown, KY on May 13, 1957, a son of the late Mary (Murray) and Forrest Marcum. 

He was a retired State Highway worker and animal control officer and the husband of Dianna (Gentry) Marcum of Jamestown, KY. 

Gary is also survived by 
a daughter, Amanda Ruiz, of Russell Springs, KY; 
a stepdaughter, Devin Godby, of Russell Springs, KY; 
a stepson, Nathan Roy, of Dunnville, KY; 
four sisters, Shenna Popplewell, Leca Colorado, Carol Sizemore, Ada Lawson, all of Jamestown, KY. 
three brothers, Phillip Marcum, of Jamestown, KY; Michael Marcum, of Russell Springs, KY; Jeffrey Marcum, of Russell Springs, KY; 
5 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews. 

His parents preceded him in death. 

Funeral Service at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, Jamestown, KY, at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 2nd, with Bro. Wendell Roberts and Bro. Garrett Crawford officiating.

Charles William “Chuck” Ralls of Campbellsville, son of the late Daniel Ralls and Sue Bingham Ralls was born January 10, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He died at 2:41 P.M., Sunday, February 27, 2022 in Campbellsville.           Age: 61

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Elk Horn Baptist Church.

Chuck served his country honorably in the United Sates Marine Corp.

He was an employee of Toyotomi and spent his free time hunting, fishing and enjoying the company of his dog, Bailey.

Chuck is survived by two daughters and four sons: Nathan Ralls and wife, Amanda of Bowling Green, Mitchell Ralls and wife, Danielle of White Plains, Maryland, Rachel Reynolds and husband, Tyler of Campbellsville, Scott Seaborne and wife, Shaina of Missouri, Jessica Seaborne of Lexington and Casey Seaborne and wife, Allie of Campbellsville; twelve grandchildren: Anderson Ralls, Penelope Ralls, Finley Ralls, Foster Ralls, Eden Ralls, Hadley Ralls, Hayes Reynolds, Riley Phoenix and husband, Josh, Landon Seaborne, Aria Seaborne, Parker Seaborne and Kendall Seaborne; one sister, Susan Walker and husband, David of Texas; his ex-wife, Teresa Ralls of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Brenda Sue Hatcher, 78 of Columbia, died Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Baptist Health Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Brenda was born March 8, 1943 to the late Marvin and Thirsie Keltner Downey.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Hatcher, five brothers, Coy, Hollis, Thomas, Kenneth and Arlin Downey, two sisters, Diana Stone and Zenith Hatcher and a grandchild, Skyler Hatcher.  Brenda was a homemaker and member of Milltown Church.

Survivors include:
Three sons – Jeff  Hatcher (Vicki), Randy Hatcher ( Sharon Gupton),  and Brad Hatcher (Melinda Knight)  all of Columbia
One daughter – Miranda Hatcher of Columbia
One brother – Jimmie Downey of Columbia
Two sisters – Evon Legg and Geneva Holmes both of Columbia
Seven grandchildren – Malisha Hatcher (Austin Henderson), Blake Hatcher (Abby), Zack Hatcher, Tristen Keith, Austin Hatcher, Jeffery Burton (Kristy), and Stephanie Richards

Marcella Cox of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Wallace Gabehart and Christine Monday Bottoms Gabehart, was born May 20, 1940 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 6:30 A.M., Friday, February 25, 2022 in Campbellsville.  Age:  81

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mannsville Separate Baptist Church.

Marcella was a very caring and compassionate caregiver for many years and loved her family deeply.

She united in marriage to David Keith Cox May 12, 1958 and he preceded her in death May 6, 2003.

She is survived by one son and two daughters: Grayling Cox and wife, Lisa: Nikki Curry and companion, Liz Newton all of Campbellsville: Melissa Schlobohm and husband, Sean of Palm Coast, Florida

Three grandchildren: Kassondra Cook and Husband, David of Campbellsville: Kelsi Wayne Schlobohm of Lexington and Daulton Schlobohm of Palm Coast Florida; two great-grandchildren: Louie B. Cook and Payton England; one brother and one sister: Anthony Gabehart and Becky Sizemore of Campbellsville; three sisters-in-law: Beverly Sue Cox, Kathleen Cox and Mary Nell Cox; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Timmy Bottoms, Jimmy Bottoms and Carolyn Dicken.

Kelli Renee Mastin Norfleet

Kelli Renee Mastin Norfleet, of Lancaster, KY, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022.  She was 41.

Born on January 19, 1981, in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Gary and Candice Moore Mastin.  She was an honor graduate of Boyd County High School, class of 1999. Kelli graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Communications, which she used while working in California in the movie industry as a production assistant and in promotions.  She then chose to explore a legal career and attended law school at Whittier College for a year before deciding to move in a different direction.  After taking a break to go backpacking around Europe, Kelli moved to West Virginia to work as a Medicare Specialist.  Following a promotion she relocated to Lexington, Kentucky where she decided to start a new career, training to be an industrial electrician.  Kelli completed the training in 2020, graduating from Kentucky Technical College.

Kelli was the wife of Chad Norfleet.  She is survived by her parents; her older sister, Amanda Mastin; her twin sister, Kristin (James) Kaul; stepson Connor Norfleet; nieces Mya Mastin and Lillian Kaul; and nephew Keegan Mastin.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Travis and Jennifer Mastin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church in Casey County on Saturday, March 5th.  Family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 P.M. at the church, at which time a private memorial will be held.  Another Celebration of Life will be held in Ashland on March 12th, with those details still being finalized as of this writing.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Shriner's Hospital.

​Ruby Lillian Corbin Beaty, 89, of Columbia, KY died Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, KY.  She was born on April 6, 1932 to the late Aaron Corbin and Ina Stotts Corbin Murphy.  
 
She was also preceded in death by her husband Clay Beaty, step-father Elzie Murphy, two children Judith Reinig and Steven Beaty, her son-in-law Donald Keith and a half-brother Jadell Murphy.
 
Mrs. Beaty attended the Haven Mission Church and enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
 
Survivors include a daughter Rebecca Keith of Columbia, KY; five grandchildren Janet Harmon (Tony) of Columbia, KY, Rhonda Garrett of Louisville, KY, David Randall Curry of Columbia, KY, Jason Keith of Arizona and Shelley Ramsey (Anthony) of Columbia, KY; three great grandchildren Corey Harmon, Kelci Ramsey, Josh Garrett and Garrett Keith; two half-sisters Ceola Hill and Barbara Janes and two half-brothers Carlos and Donnie Murphy.
 
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue on Tuesday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
 
Bro. Jim Williams will be officiating and pallbearers will be Corey Harmon, Tony Harmon, Anthony Ramsey, Jerry Burton, David Curry, Gary Keith and Benny Gentry.
 
The family request that everyone attending the services wear a mask or face covering.
