Mr. Daymon A. Sallee

Mr. Daymon A. Sallee, son of the late William Authur and Mary Anna (Murell) Sallee, was born on May 11, 1940. He departed this life on September 28, 2019 at his home after an extended illness. He was 79 years, 4 months, and 17 days of age.

He was a retiree of General Electric in Louisville and was a former volunteer firefighter for the Campbellsville/Taylor County Fire District. Mr. Sallee had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He believed in the greater good of serving others and was a longtime volunteer for Toys For Tots and was a member of the Taylor County Fair Board. He had served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a current member of the American Legion Post 82.

He leaves to mourn his passing:
   Two daughters: Melissa Dayle Guerrieri and husband Joseph of Louisville, and Genesia Sallee and husband Timmy Hodgens of Campbellsville,
   Two stepchildren: Tammie Creason and husband Ronnie, and Randy Cox and companion Justin Grant, all of Campbellsville,
   One sister: Mary Elizabeth Vance of Green County,
   Eleven grandchildren,
   Thirteen great-grandchildren,
   And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

   He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sue (Sidebottom) Sallee in 2005; one son, Christopher Sallee in 2017; and seven siblings, Athol Milby, Willaim Edward Sallee, Maurice Jean Sallee, Jewell Dean Cox, Delores Belle Sallee, Logan Ray Sallee, and Lora Mae Dudgeon.

   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Sallee on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home. Bro. Logan “Danny” Sallee will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 29, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
   In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations to Toys For Tots. Those can be made in person at the funeral home, or online through the “How Can I Help” tab on the front page of this site.

Beatrice Caven Marcum

Mrs. Beatrice Caven Marcum of Columbia, Kentucky, formerly of Green County,  daughter of the late Parrish Caven and Mamie Wright Caven, was born on, March 10, 1924 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on, September 26, 2019 at the T.J. Health Hospital in Columbia.  She was 95 years, 6 months, and 16 days of age.

          She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Church of the Nazarene.  She was retired from the Fruit of the Loom as an Examiner and also retired from babysitting.  She continued to enjoy cooking for her family and friends.  

          She united in marriage to Moss Marcum on May 30, 1940 who preceded her in death on October 24,  2014.

          Survivors include a daughter and a son-in-law:  Charlotte and Ronnie Hubbard of Columbia;  two grandchildren and a spouse:  John Hubbard of Lexington and LeAnne Hubbard Bell and Brandon Bell of Edmonton;  three great-grandchildren:  Claudia Bell, Mary Cate Bell and Sam Bell all of Edmonton and a host of other relatives and friends.

     Mrs. Marcum was also preceded in death by: a son Dennis Ray Marcum in August, 1941;   a sister:  Estelle Walker ; and a brother, Elmer Caven.

          The funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Caven Marcum were conducted at 3:00 P.M., Central Time, Sunday, September 28, 2019 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Wilson Cemetery in Green County.  Bro. William "Bill" C. Cowan, 75, of Louisville and formerly of Columbia passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his home.  Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Cowan; 9 siblings; and step-son, Jamie Logsdon.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Athel Cowan; sons, Brian K. (Christy) and Jason Cowan; step-children, Roland Logsdon (Robin), Sarah Houk (Sal), Stanley Logsdon (Kay), Michael Logsdon (Lorrie) and Tracy Logsdon; grandchildren, Cole, Christopher, Veronica, Amelia and Jazzylyne; 11 step-grandchildren; and siblings, Gilbert (Carolyn), Kenneth (Marleen) and Danny Cowan (Donna).

He retired from Phillip Morris in 1998. Bill was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Green River Lake.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday 4:00-8:00p.m. at Ratterman Keenan Southwest Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Rd and on Monday from 12:00-8:00pm at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home and will continue on Tuesday morning until time for the service.

Mildred Thompson Tsukagoshi age 73 of Summer Shade passed away Thursday,  September 26, 2019 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.   She was the daughter of the late Ernest Clyde and Elnora Harper Thompson.  

Mildred was retired from the Metcalfe County Health Department.   

She is survived by her husband Jim Tsukagoshi of Edmonton.    Two sons.   Greg White and Daniel (Donna) Glover all of Summer Shade.    One daughter Tammy Glover Reece of Summer Shade.  Two brothers.   James Howard Thompson of Texas and Ernest (Sylvia) Thompson of London, Kentucky.   Seven grandchildren.   Jessie Ray White, Rachel Shaw, Kyle Glover, Kayla Glover, Trevor Reece, Harley White and Taylor White.   One great grandchild Haiden Kain.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.   Tommy and Jack Thompson.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM  Monday at Butler Funeral Home  in Edmonton with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday and after 9:00 AM  Monday at the funeral home.

Gerald Phillip Gilpin age 86, of Liberty, KY passed away on Thursday September 26th, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Liberty, KY on November 30th, 1932 a son of the late Walter and Nancy Jane Roy Gilpin.

Gerald was retired from Diamond International Paper, a Farmer, a U.S. Airforce Veteran and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: Three Daughters: Ellen Stewart and (Tom) Pardue of Bowling Green, KY, Emily Kendall Holderfield of Bowling Green, KY and Sarah Lee and (Stuart) Clements of Liberty, One Granddaughter: Sarah Grace and (Jacob) Clements-Ray of Liberty and One Sister: Iva Rose and (Leon) Burton of Columbia, KY.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was One Daughter: Eva Dale Gilpin, Five Brothers: Ralph, Glen, Chester B., Roy and Thomas Lee Gilpin and Three Sisters: Beryl Anderson, Iola Atwood and Mary Faye Pendleton.

 Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday September 30th, 2019 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday September 30th, 2019 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Celystine Baker, 73, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.  Born in Breeding, KY she was the daughter of the late Porter and Sophie Furkin Stotts and wife of the late Lawrence Odell Baker.

Mrs. Baker was a member of the Wells Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, a former employee of Oshkosh in Columbia and caretaker for her husband Odell for many years before he preceded her in 2017.  She loved flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three children Pam Burris (Justin) of Greensburg, KY, Cathy Moss (Reed) of Columbia, KY and Steven Baker (Gina) of Columbia; four grandchildren Ryan Burris, Jordan Moss, Erin Whitlock and Keisha Bryant; four great grandchildren Ellison Burris, Callan Burris, Owen Whitlock and Sophie Bryant; a brother Todd Stotts (Linda) of Breeding, KY and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two grandchildren Britney Burris and Joshua Moss; two brothers Bobby and Porter Stotts Jr. and a sister Minnie Marie Stotts.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Fudge Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 3:00-8:00pm at the funeral home and continue on Sunday morning until time for the service.

Bro. Doug Copas and Bro. Charles Dulin will be officiating and pallbearers will be Ryan Burris, Jordan Moss, Ben Whitlock, Michael Bryant, Barry Stotts and Byron Rodgers.

Betty Blandford Moraja

Betty Blandford Moraja, age 76 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Village of Lebanon.

She was born on November 6, 1942 in Lebanon.

Betty worked as the office manager at Bosley Funeral Home. She and her husband, Dick, bought the funeral home in 1969. Betty was an avid antique collector, having a fondness for lamps. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Hamilton “Ham” and Dorothy Johnson Blandford; brothers, Pat Blandford and Mike Blandford; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Johnny Bland.

Survivors include her husband, James R. “Dick” Moraja, of Lebanon, KY; son, Richard Moraja (Pam) of Lebanon, KY; granddaughter, Ann Carol Moraja (fiance’ Aaron Brown) of Lebanon, KY; grandson, Alex Moraja of Lebanon, KY; brothers, Everett Blandford (Betty) and Danny Ray Blandford (Kathy) both of Lebanon, KY; sister, Lucy Brown (Coleman) of Versailles, KY; sister-in-laws, Kathy Blandford Hawthorne (Warren) and Sandra Blandford, both of Lebanon, KY, special caregiver, Betty Hatchett of Springfield, KY.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2019 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Bosley Funeral Home.
Prayer services
will be held at 7:00 Sunday evening by Deacon Joe Dant.
The family would like to recognize the Village of Lebanon and Betty Hatchett for the care and attention given to Betty. Their help is very much appreciated.

Georgia Mae Miles, age 79, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Home. 

She was born on May 06, 1940 in Raywick, KY. She worked at Telecom and Southall Pharmacy for many years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Raywick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathryn Thompson Miles; sisters, Wanda Miles Blandford and Sharon Miles, brothers, Jimmy Miles, Melvin Miles and Raymond Miles.

Survivors include her sister, Joanne Miles Thomas (Bobby) of Lebanon, KY; brothers, Charles Miles and Marvin (Elaine) Miles both of Fern Creek, KY, Richard (Patsy) Miles of Bardstown, KY, and David (Peggy) Miles of Mt. Washington, KY.; sister-in-law’s, Florine Miles and Brenda Brown; brother-in-law, Johnny Blandford.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 01, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2019 at Bosley Funeral Home, with a prayer service that will be held at 7:00 P.M. officiated by deacon Joe Dant.

Jack Odell Vrocher, Sr. age 65 of Edmonton passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.  Born in Hopewell, Virginia he was the son of the late Willie Ray Plaster and Mary Collins.   

Jack was an employee of the Metcalfe County School System.    He served in the United States Army and was attending the Winfreys Chapel Church.   

He is survived by his wife Debbie Brown Vrocher of Edmonton.   Four children.   Michelle (Brian) Larsen of San Jose, California.   Jack (Robynn) Vrocher II  of the United States Army.  Alicia Caldwell of Lebanon, Kentucky and Jackie Vrocher of Edmonton.   Two brothers.   Robert Vrocher of Saraland, Alabama and Edward Vrocher of Florence, Mississippi.   Two sisters.   Dianne Tamburro of Sarasota, Florida and Alice Layfield of Mobile, Alabama.  Nine grandchildren.  Mercediez, Kristina, Mariah, Lillian, Melody, Zachariah, Jefferson, Jack III and Jason.   Four great grandchildren.   Hezekiah, Bentley, Tobias and Anastasia.   

​Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM  Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the White Cemetery.   Masonic services will be held 7:00 PM  Saturday at the funeral home.   Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday and after 9:00 AM Sunday at the funeral home.

Thomas Paul Newton

Thomas Paul Newton age 87 of Edmonton passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at NHC in Glasgow.    Born in Bridgewater, Colorado he was the son of the late Robert William Newton and Irene Eva Smith Newton. 

Tom was a US Army Veteran and after serving in the Army joined the US Air Force.  He later became an employee of  Continental Airlines. 

He married Dorthy Elizabeth Tarrant August 6, 1971 and she preceded him in death.  

He is survived by a stepdaughter Candase Rayl of Castle Rock, Colorado.   

Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. 

Private graveside services were held and burial was in the Edmonton Cemetery.
