Vernelle "Dinah" (Popplewell) Thomas, 80, of Georgetown, Ky, formerly of Russell Springs, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the North Healthcare Pavillion Hospice Unit in Louisville, Ky.  She was born April 13, 1937 in Russell County to the late Otha Lee and Belva (Dunbar) Popplewell.  She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Adrie Thomas and Carl Hurt, three sisters, Gertie Johnson, Evelyn Lee, and Nina Dunbar, and five brothers, Mose Popplewell, Otto Vernon Popplewell, Jack Popplewell, Phillip Popplewell, and Roger Popplewell.

Survivors
two daughters:  Judy Potts, Canada
                         Jenny Walker, Georgetown, Ky
three step-children: Kay Phelps, Utah
                                Jill Hamilton, Louisville
                                 Jina Moore, Colorado
four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be 12-4 PM (CST), Saturday, August 5, 2015, with a private family service following.
Memorials suggested to Hosparus Health, 315 E. Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202.

Eugene Wayne Edwards age 81 of Edmonton passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at his home.   He was the son of the late Eugene and Melvinie Jeffries Edwards. 

Wayne was retired from the Edmonton Toll Plaza and member of the Grace Union Baptist Church.    Wayne served in the US Army from 1958 until 1962.  

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years Mae Firkins Edwards.  One son Michael Wayne Edwards and wife Alicia.   Two daughters;  Brenda Hammer and Julie and husband Don Holmes all of Edmonton.    Five grandchildren;   Jason Hammer, Joshua Hammer, Keifer Holmes, Dillian Lee and Britney Edwards.  Two great grandchildren Elodie and Wesley Hammer.  

Besides his parents Wayne was preceded in death by three sisters.  Lula Mae Cotrell, Lavenia Joy and Alberta Hubbard

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM  Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.    Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM  Tuesday and after 9:00 AM  Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rhodena Lee (Robertson) Hart, 78, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Russell County Hospital.  She was born October 9, 1938, in Russell County to Lewis Oliver and Zula D. (Foley) Robertson.  She was a homemaker and was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Franklin Hart, and a sister, Rosemary Rudd.

Survivors
two sons:  Wayne (Teresa) Hart, Russell Springs
                  Rodney (Marsha) Hart, Russell Springs
one daughter:  Rhonda (David) Hammond, Russell Springs
five grandchildren:  Laura Shanks, Lesley Barger, Ben Hammond, Rachael Luttrell, Baylee Hart.
nine great-grandchildren:  Elizabeth Shanks, Andrew Shanks, Callie Barger, Jamison Barger, Molly Hammond, Annslee Hammond, Luke Luttrell, Jacob Hammond, Olivia Hammond.

Funeral service for Rhodena Hart will be at 10 AM (CDT)  Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Salem United Baptist Church with Elder Larold Gosser officiating. 
Visitation 4-8 PM Sunday and 8 AM Monday at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment in the Salem Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Jason Shanks, Paul Barger, Ben Hammond, John Luttrell, Andrew Shanks, Tony Rudd.

Mrs. Delores Wilson Wayne, age 76 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born on May 26, 1941 in Lebanon, KY. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Della Mae Moore Wilson; first husband, William Foster Mattingly; four sisters, Catherine Wade, Jenny Price, Jean Davis, Diane Ferguson; brother, Larry Wilson, special daughter-in-law, Jamie Jo Mattingly. 

Survivors include four sons, Ricky Anthony Mattingly (Jamie), John Mark Wayne (Mona), Roy Christopher Wayne (Bonnie), Jodie Lee Wayne (Leasa), all of Lebanon, KY; daughter, Carla Faye Wayne Murphy, of Lebanon, KY; brother, Carl B. Wilson (Linda), of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Stella Hardin (Jerry), of Bardstown, KY, Faye Pittman (Ronnie), of Lebanon, KY; former husband, John Henry Wayne, of Lebanon, KY. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Bosley Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Clellan Hays. Interment to follow in Benningfield Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 at the funeral home.

Susie Mae Harmon, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017, at her residence. She was 67.

Born February 19, 1950, in Liberty, KY, she was a daughter of the late Perry William Lane and Pokey Pittman Lane. Susie was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church at Contown. She enjoyed gardening and going to yard sales. 

Survivors include her daughter, Tina (and Chris) Richardson of Liberty; sons, Jeffrey Harmon (and Ruthann Egolf) of Junction City, Timmy (and Tammy) Harmon of Liberty, and Tommy Harmon (and Janet Bolin) of Liberty; sisters, Faye Garrett and Barbara Eads, both of Liberty; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Lee Harmon; brothers, Edwin and Hubert Lane; sister, Dellie Crew; and 2 infant siblings. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Oak Grove Baptist Church at Contown. Visitation will be after 11AM on Wednesday at the Church.

Eugene Peavley, age 77, of Danville, KY passed away on Saturday July 29th, 2017 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born in Liberty, KY on August 22nd, 1939 a son of the late Mike and Rena Wilson Peavley.

He was a farmer.

Survivors include: One Brother: James Garnett Peavley of Hustonville, KY. 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was Three Brothers: Noah, Oris and Paul Peavley and One Sister: Bedie Derry.

Visitation will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday August 2nd, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday August 2nd, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Burial will be in the Jennies’ Cemetery.

Mike Rodgers of Campbellsville, son of Mildred Baumgardner Rodgers and the late Mitchell Rodgers, was born September 12, 1957 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 8:20 A.M., Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 59

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Mike was a retired employee of Batesville Casket Co., but he also had a vast knowledge of construction and masonry work. Mike’s passion for Harley Davidson was well known by those he loved, and was evident to others with just a glance at any one of his favorite shirts. His love and devotion to his family and extended family was very obvious and the times they spent together will always be cherished memories. 

He united in marriage to Cindy Gilpin October 25, 1984. 
Besides his wife, Cindy Rodgers of Campbellsville, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Haley Rae Leigh and Jonathon Leigh; one grandson, Isaiah Leigh; his mother, Mildred Rodgers; one brother and one sister: Ricky Rodgers and wife, Ann and Carol Caldwell and husband, Tony; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law: Bart Gilpin and wife, Candace and Marchetta Garrison and husband, Sammy of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Douglas Dewayne "Bubba" McAfee, Jr. of Columbia, son of Douglas Dewayne McAfee, Sr. of Campbellsville and Barbara Dell Whitlow Bills McAfee of Greensburg, was born on November 3, 1968 in Louisville, Kentucky and departed this life on Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Russell County. He was 48 years, 8 months, and 24 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Melson Ridge Community Baptist Church. He was also a iron worker/welder for Branscum Precision Construction. 

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Gina Carrie Grant McAfee of Columbia having united in marriage on May 24, 2008.

Other survivors include three daughters: Bethany McAfee, Hannah McAfee both of Columbia, and Sarah Grant of Franklin; step-mother: Kim McAfee of Campbellsville; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Danny and Pam Bills, Mike and Tracy Bills all of Greensburg, and Tony and Mandy Bills of Franklin; a sister and brother-in-law: Simone and Charlie Walker of Mississippi; a step-brother: Josh Landis of Campbellsville; one grandson: Helix Cayde Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Lynn McAfee.

The funeral services for Douglas Dewayne "Bubba" McAfee, Jr. will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Bro. Mike Helm and Bro. Greg Whitlow officiating.
Visitation is requested from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7:00 A.M., Monday until time of the funeral service.

She was born January 28, 1938, in Adair County, to the late Bill and Florence Scott Wilson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kalup Burris, two sons, Mike Lee and Lewis Dale Burris, two grandchildren, Mindy Kay and Angela Ann Burris and a sister, Stella Parson.

NOEL LEE “RED” BLANKENSHIP  72, of Glensfork,  KY passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12:10 PM at Signature Health Care - Summit Manor in Columbia, KY after several months illness.
He was born near Glensfork,  KY on  November 12, 1944 the late Charles and Cordia Inez Thomas Blankenship

Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his wife Anna Pearl Beaty Blankenship in 2001

He worked for the Kentucky Department of Highways for 27 years and retired in 1999 he was a farmer, he had recently professed his faith in Christ.
Red was an avid dog lover and was preceded in death by many of his loving dog companions.

Survived by one sister in law: Zellie McGaha and husband Rollin of Barnett’s Creek
