Lillie Pearl “Polly” Banks 1928-2022

Lillie Pearl “Polly” Banks, 93, passed from this life at her home on Thursday, June 30, 2022.  She was born in the Chance community of Adair County on October 15, 1928.  She was the daughter of William Ancil and Elmer Lee Burbridge Thomas and the sister of Jewel Thomas Luchowski, Jack Thomas, Beatrice Thomas, Opal Thomas Ceresero and JB Thomas, all deceased.

Polly was a devoted, long-time member of the Columbia Church of the Nazarene.  She loved to read, take bus trips with friends, and do just about anything outdoors, especially raise a garden.  She also loved to sew and particularly enjoyed making quilts.

She is survived by her three children:  Ernie Matney, Sandy Matney Kimbler and Donna Banks White (Rodney); her grandsons, Kerry Matney, Jeremy Kimbler, Troy Kimbler and Rob White (Jessica); her great-granddaughters, Sydney, Sophie and Kaydence Kimbler.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George Banks, who died in 1997.

Visitation on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. with a graveside service following in the Columbia Cemetery with Bro. Rick Shelton officiating.

Marcella Roberts Anderson, age 81 of  Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at River's Edge Nursing Home in Prospect, Kentucky. Marcella was born on December 1, 1940 in Barren County, KY to the late Wallace  and Mary McComas Roberts. She was a long-time employee of Bell South and AT & T  where she worked as a Telephone Directory Assistance Operator. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Leigh Anderson. 

Survivors include:
Two sons - Stephen Anderson and Stuart Anderson both of Louisville, Kentucky 
One sister - Marian Cawthorne of Cave City, Kentucky
One granddaughter - Laura Anderson of Louisville, Kentucky

Funeral services for Marcella Roberts Anderson will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, Kentucky with burial in Grider Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Wednesday, July, 6, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service at 1:00 P.M.

Beatrice Imogene Pierce, age 86, of Norwood, OH, passed away on Thursday June 30th, 2022, at Christ Hospital. She was born January 9th, 1936, in Liberty, KY, a daughter of the late Cleo and Ida Lewellen Garrett.

Beatrice was retired from Fusite.

Beatrice was the widow of Travis Pierce Sr.

Survivors include: Two Sons: Travis and (Kathy) Pierce Jr. of Mainesville, OH, and Troy and (Leslie) Pierce of Centersville, OH, Five Grandchildren: Kristan and (Stefan) Vind, Austin Pierce, Anna Pierce, Sarah Pierce and Megan Pierce, One Great Grandchild: Lucas Vind and One Sister: Judy Garrett Allen of Dunnville,KY.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was One Brother: Ronnie Veral Garrett and One Sister: Jeweldene Garrett Griffin.

Graveside services will be held 9:00 A.M. Tuesday July 5th, 2022, at Salem Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.

Deward Alvin Riddle, age 82, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday June 30th, 2022, at his residence. He was born March 14th, 1940, in Adair County, KY, a son of the late Chester Bradley and Mintie Levon Davis Riddle.

Deward was a farmer.

Survivors include: His Spouse: Barbara Dean Allen Riddle, One Daughter: Sheila Kay Woodrum of Campbellsville, One Son: Gregory Deward and (Karla) Riddle of Middleburg, Three Grandchildren: Brandon and (Tonya) Wethington, Derek and (Amber) Riddle and Daniel Riddle and (Jami Luttrell), Five Great Grandchildren: Brennan Alexis Wethington, Baylee, Hudson, Harper and Holden Riddle and Two Brothers: Luaird and (Wanda) Riddle of Liberty and Exton and (Starr) Riddle of Avon Park, FL.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was Two Brothers: Elbert “Shorty” Riddle and Delbert Riddle and One Sister: Alvaline Bowles.

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Friday July 1st, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 2nd, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edward Parton and Rev. Bobby Tackett Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Whited Cemetery.

Michelle Newton Yates of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Dorris Ray Newton and Ruth Adams Newton, was born July 28, 1967 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  She died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in Campbellsville.   Age:  54

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of New Journey Church.
Michelle was a kind hearted person who loved her family and her Lord.  She was a wonderful wife, nah nah, mom, sister and aunt.  Her favorite drink was Ski in a can and the beach was her happy place.

She united in marriage to Ronnie Yates April 25, 1987.

Besides her husband, Ronnie Yates of Campbellsville, Michelle is survived by one son and one daughter:  Chanci Jo Yates and Hunter Yates of Campbellsville; special daughter, Shelby Wood of Campbellsville; four grandchildren:  Remi Jo Yates, Chanleigh Yates, Bentley Yates and Mason; one sister, Linda Maupin and husband, David of Danville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers:  Timothy Allen Newton May 29, 1983 and Danny Ray Newton February 24, 2016.

Dorothy Jean Shell Boston of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late James Luther Shell and Blanche Marie Shell, was born on Wednesday, September 8, 1954 in Pikeville, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her home. She was 67 years, 9 months, and 21 days of age. 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. 

Survived by her husband of 20 years, Roger Doyle Boston of Greensburg; a son: Tony Ray Shell of Greensburg; two daughters and a son-in-law: Cathy Marie and Homer Fuston of Greensburg, and Jennifer Childers of Cave City; six grandchildren: Angelica Renee Boaz, Devin Ray Shell, Dakota Joseph Fuston, Dusty Cole Fuston, Roseann Marie Fuston, Charolette Nichole White and her husband, James; one great-grandchild: Oliver Bo White; a brother and sister: Tommy Shell of Summersville, and Julia Kilgore of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Boston was also preceded in death by a sister: Ruth Ann Shell. 

Visitation for Dorothy Jean Shell Boston will be conducted from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home. Honoring her wishes, cremation to follow.

Chalmer Dwight Fisher, Jr., 74, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Summit Manor Nursing Home.

He was born January 9, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Chalmer Dwight and Mary Susan Howell Fisher.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Stevie Fisher and one sister, Regina Overby

Survivors include:
Three children – Sheila Fisher of Buffalo, Kentucky, Shawn Fisher of Ohio and Larry Fisher of Florida
One brother – Jackie Fisher, Sr., of Florida
Three sisters – Sherry Yancy of Florida, Patricia Stapleton of Radcliff, Kentucky and Vickie Fisher of Columbia, Kentucky
Several nieces, nephews, including two great-nephews that grew up around him, Gary and Dalton Crawford of Columbia, other relatives and friends

Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time

Sue Dowell 1941-2022

Sue Dowell of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Rich Smythe and Lois Dillon Blair Smythe was born on May 6, 1941 in Adair County, Kentucky.  She died at 5:18 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in Elizabethtown.   Sue was 81 years old.
​
Sue loudly confessed her faith in Christ and was a member of Kellyville Community Church.  Sue was a businesswoman, known to be stylish, elegant and classy. She was also known for her amazing cooking, with the main ingredient being love.  Sue was nurturing and devoted to her friends and family.

Sue was united in marriage to Tommy Dowell, on November 11, 1959, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2010.  They had two children, Tommy (Jr.) and Debbie.

Sue is survived by her son and daughter:  Tommy Dowell of Campbellsville and Debbie Richdale and husband, Bradford of Austin Texas; three grandchildren: Andrew Richdale of San Francisco, California, Derek Richdale and wife, Juliet of San Diego, California, and Rachael Dowell and Chris Bashum of Bowling Green; four great-grandchildren: Gabriel Bashum, Axel Bashum, Abbie Richdale, and Nora Richdale; one sister, Bobbie McKinney; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Sue was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Fred Smythe, Paul Allen Smythe, and Jane Corbin.

Susan Carole Watson, the daughter of the late John and Mayme Lucille (Sprowles) Underwood, was born October 7, 1954 in Taylor County and departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in Campbellsville at her home. She was 67 years of age.
​
          She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

          Susan enjoyed painting crafts, caring for her flowers and plants, birdwatching, hiking and exploring.

          Survivors include her children: Johnny Watson, Mickey Watson and Amy Watson all of Campbellsville; two sisters and a brother: Dianna Dicken and Kathy Hicks and Ray Underwood all of Campbellsville; two half-brothers: Billy Bell and wife Jane of Raywick and Phillip Underwood of Campbellsville; a step-sister: Joyce Burton of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Brooklyn Holler, Dre-Mareon Girly and Apollo Embry; three step-grandchildren: Timothy Lanham, Jordan Summers and Dustin Summers; her fur babies: Casper and Angel.

          Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Danny Underwood; a half-brother: Delbert Bell; a daughter-in-law: Jessica Watson.

The funeral Service for Susan Watson will be Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home
(Campbellsville Chapel).
Interment in the Palestine Cemetery
Visitation after 10:00 A.M. Sunday until time for the service.

Jerry Wade Loyall 1957-2022

Jerry Wade Loyall of the Summersville community of Green County, son of Alene Elmore Loyall and the late Earl Loyall, was born on October 14, 1957 and departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his home. He was 64 years, 8 months and 15 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church. Mr. Loyall retired from the Green County Road Department. He was a farmer, enjoyed fishing and John Deere tractors.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Alma J. Loyall, having united in marriage on November 17, 1988.

Besides his wife and mother, other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Jeremy and Rosalyn Hall of California; two grandchildren: Taylor and Hudson Hall of California; one brother: Ricky Loyall and fiancé Angie Milby of Summersville; aunts and uncle: Betty and Charles Milby and Margaret Elmore all of Green County; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for Mr. Jerry Loyall will be conducted at 12 o’clock Noon, Central Time, Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with Bro. Jerry Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to be in the form of donations to Jaidas Paws Rescue or the Bennett Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
