Danny Clarkson, age 57, of Windsor, passed away on Saturday, May 29,2021, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born September 2, 1963, in Marion County, KY, he was a son of the late Theodore and Minerva Hafley Clarkson. Danny was employed at Save-a-Lot in Liberty and also as a school bus driver for the Casey County Board of Education. He enjoyed tractor pulls and helping his special friend, James Lewis Hayes with his tractor. Danny attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Ferry Clarkson; sons, Daniel Clarkson (and Angela Kingsley), Ted Clarkson, and Johnny (and Kara) Clarkson; step-son, Zackery Williams; sisters, Darethea (and Bill) Burns, Myrtle Hawkins, Juanita (and Gary) Mounce, and Jo Ann Clarkson (and Benny Day); a grandson, Lane; and 2 grandchildren on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM EST Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennies Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10AM-2PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Lewis Hayes, Jake Smith, Chris Kissee, Larry Harris, and Johnny and Daniel Clarkson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Kissee, Stanley Hayes, Benny Day, Craig Griffin, and Johnny Ellis. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Otis Burton

Otis Burton, 87, of Columbia, KY died Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident.  He was born in Adair County on January 30, 1934 to the late Robert and Dorinda Burton.  He was the husband of the late Nellie Nancy Harmon Burton.

Mr. Burton formerly attended the Calvary Temple Church and enjoyed dairy farming and spending time with his family.

Survivors include four children Mary Betty Helm (Kenny), Morris Benny Burton and John Jeffro Burton (Karen) all of Columbia, KY and Marilyn Bessie Judd (Tony) of Greensburg, KY; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two children Mae Beverly Burton and Michael Bradley Burton; a granddaughter Tonia Rena Helm and siblings Pink Burton, Sarah Burton, Cecile Cowan, Lizzie Cowan, Rissie Burton and Gladys Burton.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00pm and continue on Wednesday morning until time for the service.

Bro. Troy McWhorter and Bro Ralph Foster will be officiating pallbearers will be Josh Harden, Billy Smith, Josh Helm, Terry Judd, Junior Crawhorn & Brandon Bloyd.

Elder Paul Darrell Wilson, age 78, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Saturday, May 29 2021 at his residence.
He was born on Wednesday, September 23 1942, in Russell Springs, Kentucky.

He was the son of:
Mother - Eudell McBeath Wilson, who has preceded him in death
Father - Erville Paul Wilson, who has preceded him in death

He is survived by four grandchildren Myles Wilson, Gabby Wilson, Cody Wilson and Makayla Wilson, 2 great-grandchildren, Carmen Wilson and Cloe Wilson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division, and a construction worker. He was a Baptist minister and pastored several churches in the area and was a member of Salem United Baptist Church. Special music provided by Glen and Willodean Richardson. Pallbearers were Mark Robertson, Andy Robertson, Kyle Robertson, JJ Wilson, Rollin Wayne McFarland and Matt McFarland.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, June 01 2021 at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY.

Visitation will be 5-9 PM Monday, May 31 2021 at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY.

Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Russell Springs, KY.

Malcolm Douglas, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 76.

Born on July 12, 1944, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Chester Douglas and Enola Lynn Pratt. Malcolm was retired from General Motors after 30+ years. He was a hardworking family man. He enjoyed old cars and bluegrass music. Malcolm was a Mason.

He is survived by a son, David Douglas of Liberty; a daughter, Denise (JR) Sheene of Liberty; four grandchildren, Brittany, Danielle, Molly, and Ashton; and six great-grandchildren, Trenton, Ian, Trey, Alexis, Althea, and Jay; two brothers, Garland Douglas of Cincinnati and Jack Douglas of Liberty; and a sister, Matrie Martin of Liberty.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Joe Douglas; three brothers, JC Douglas, Dallon Douglas, and Delano Douglas; and five sisters, Frances Allen, Vearin Shaw, Agatha Shaw, Pam Garrett, and Roxie Mann.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Hogue officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Ted Smith

Ted Smith, age 93 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Cumberland County Hospital. Ted was born on February 23, 1928 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Jessie Curtis Smith and Sibbie Sharp Smith.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War having served in the 32nd Tank Battalion where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a former employee of Brown Supply Company for several years before starting his own business as a Cabinet Maker where he continued to make cabinets for many years. Ted was a Christian of Church of Christ faith and a member of VFW Post 5419.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings, Lerell Smith, Leslie Smith, Denzil Smith, Bera Gwinn, Lucille Strange.

His Wife- Carmelita Thrasher Smith of Burkesville, KY
One Son- Nonnie Smith and his wife Margaret of Burkesville, KY
One Daughter- Toshia Harper and her husband Ray of Burkesville, KY

Six Great Grandchildren- Andrea Mann, Audrey Pierce, Jamie Lynn Pierce, Amber Pierce, Jalaina Pierce, and Dawson Pierce

along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Wednesday, June 02, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Stockton Cemetery with military honors. Family requests visitation on Tuesday, June 01, 2021 from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.

Marsha Roberts, 57, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home.
She was born January 24, 1964, in Barren County, to the late Murrell Brazil and Thelma Floyd Wells. 

Marsha retired from the Adair County EMS as an EMT, was an avid floral designer and attended Asbury United Methodist Church.

Her son – Jamison Roberts of Columbia
Her brother-in-law and sister-in-law – Steve and Tracey Roberts of Glasgow

Helen Passmore, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at her home. She was 64.

Born on November 2, 1956, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora Noe Passmore. Helen was a caregiver for the elderly. She was a kind and caring person. She enjoyed gardening and overall loved to have a good time.

She is survived by two sons, Don (Rebekah) Kelley of Gravel Switch and Bobby Kelley of Liberty; three grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, and Skylar; a great-grandchild, Jenson; and a brother, Larry Long of Versailles.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Passmore; two sisters, Mary Lee Wilson and Betty Harris; and three brothers, Bob Dillingham, Thermon Long, and J.C. Long.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Don Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

A. Jeanne Dunsmore, formerly of Jefferson County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Marietta, Georgia, with her sons and daughters-in-law at her side.

Born on January 6, 1937, in Boyle County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Garnett and Violet Best Gibson. Jeanne was retired from GE and a member of Square Oak Separate Baptist Church in Russell Springs, Kentucky.

Survivors include her two sons, William “Billy Stewart” (and Lisa) Dunsmore and Roger Allen (and Stacy) Dunsmore; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Dunsmore, whom she wed on August 6, 1953.

Funeral services are 3:00 P.M. C.S.T. Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Square Oak Separate Baptist Church, with Brother Bobby Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Square Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. C.S.T. Friday, June 4, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 12:00 P.M. C.S.T. until service time on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Square Oak Separate Baptist Church.

Naomi Korine Whitley

Naomi Korine Whitley of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ola Boston and Bernice Hood Boston, was born January 9, 1934 in Hart County, Kentucky.  She died at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Campbellsville.  Age:  87

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.  She was currently attending Good Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church with her son.

She was an employee of Fruit of the Loom for fifteen years and at the age of 50, went back to school and became a laboratory technician and worked as a lab tech at Taylor Regional Hospital for fifteen years.

She united in marriage to Howard Whitley January 21, 1949 and he preceded her in death April 2, 2010.

She loved the Lord, her family and enjoyed her many flower gardens.

Korine is survived by two sons:  Greg Whitley and wife, Gayle of Campbellsville, Todd Whitley and wife, Trisha of Avita Springs, Louisiana, and a daughter-in-law Diane Whitley of Campbellsville.  She is survived by six grandchildren:  Ginny Scott and husband, Clint, Megan Wilcher and husband, John and John Whitley and wife Kayla, Rebecca Whitley; Melissa Hunter and Zachary T. Whitley; fifteen  great-grandchildren:  Tyler Scott, Summer Scott, Levi Scott, Abigayle Wilcher, Carter Wilcher, Jase Wilcher, Luke Wilcher, Noah Whitley, Kynleigh Whitley, Lyla Whitley, Lilly Rose Whitley, Beatrice Lockhart, Micah Hunter, Asher Hunter and Nate Hunter; one brother and one sister:  Robert Boston of Campbellsville and Kodelia Swears of Mt. Washington; one son-in-law, Linda Boston of Campbellsville; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends; Special caregivers, Mary Bustinza, Betty Hoosier and Diane Whitley.

Korine was also preceded in death by two sons: Charles “Lanny” Whitley and Timothy Shay Whitley; a granddaughter, Sharalyn Whitley and three brothers and three sisters:  Charles Boston, Kenneth Boston, D. K. "Bud" Boston, Kathryn Arvin, Kay Hobbs and Koretta Johnson.

Jacqueline Jo Barrett, 82, of New Albany, IN died Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Green Valley Care Center in New Albany, IN.  She was born on August 9, 1938 to the late Cornelius and Lillian Fortner Packard.  She was the wife of the late Estle Thomas Barrett.

Mrs. Barrett was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a Foster Parent to many children.  She loved horses and spending time with her family and friends.
​

Survivors include two children Pamela Barrett of Washington and Brian Barrett of Indiana; a foster son Chris Hatten of Indiana; a grandson Nikolai Horbarenko of Washington and a great grandson Jack Horbarenko of Arizona.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson Damon Barrett and three siblings Ann Williams, David Packard and Danny Packard.

Graveside services will be 1:30pm Friday, May 28, 2021 at New Hope Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Foster officiating.  Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00am-1:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
