Geraldine Rafferty of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Chalon D. Sullivan and Lizzie Hunt Sullivan, was born September 9, 1930 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 10:45 P.M., Friday, June 30, 2023 in Campbellsville.   Age:  92

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.

She united in marriage to Dillard Rafferty January 11, 1946 and he preceded her in death July 1, 2013.

Geraldine Rafferty’s life on earth was the perfect example of being Jesus’ hands and feet. Her heart was a pure, kind, unselfish, servant’s heart. She enjoyed and loved people, always looking for the opportunity to brighten someone’s day, or to be a listening and caring ear when someone needed to talk.

Geraldine was a devoted and supportive wife to Dillard Rafferty for 67 years. She respected and supported her husband in all personal and business affairs throughout their marriage. Gardening, canning, and cooking kept her busy for many years.

Geraldine raised her three children in church, making sure they learned God’s word and how to follow it in their lives. She instilled the importance of honesty, charity, and work ethic.

Some of her greatest gifts shone when she became a “Granny.”  She was the absolute perfect Granny to her three grandchildren.  She blessed all three with a steady firm foundation of unconditional love. As a grandchild of Geraldine Rafferty, you were made to feel adored and special at all times, always welcomed, always loved.
Geraldine’s great-grandchildren knew her as “GiGi.”  To say she was a devoted GiGi would be an understatement.  Geraldine took tremendous pride in her four great-grandsons and was an active part of their lives.  She attended countless tractor pulls, baseball games, basketball games, graduations, even took a ride in a golf cart or two.  One great-grandson who stayed with his Nannie before he started school was close enough for her to take countless walks down the hill to see him.

Some favorite words Geraldine shared through the years:
“I had a wonderful husband.”
“I have a good family.”
“You girls got me good son-in-laws to take care of us.”
“I’m proud of you.”
“They are such good boys, especially in this day and time.”
“I’m a tough ole Sullivan.”
“No matter what happens, it is well with my soul.”

…And most recently…”I’ll be 93 my next birthday, if I make it, but it doesn’t matter.  I’ve put my faith in the Lord Jesus, and that’s the important thing.”

She is survived by one son and two daughters: Ron Rafferty and wife Mary Lou, Nancy Inman and husband Harold and Terry Brewer and husband Bill of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Christy Parks and husband Scott, Mark Inman and wife Sara of Campbellsville and John David Inman of Lexington; four great-grandchildren: Tanner Parks, Cooper Parks, Logan Inman, and Colton Inman; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Geraldine was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Earl Sullivan and Naomi Sullivan.

Edward Frank Jablonowski (also known as “Mr. Ed” or “Short Street Ed”) 1958-2023

6/28/2023

Picture
Edward Frank Jablonowski (also known as “Mr. Ed” or “Short Street Ed”) was found resting in his home in Burkesville, KY on June 28th at the age of 65.

He is predeceased by his father Edward John Jablonowski and his brother, James Jablonowski (Jimmy).

He is survived by his mother Joan Frances Jablonowski (née Florek), his children, Jamie Carter and Ian Jennings and his siblings, Lisa Jablonowski, Suzanne Ricci, Steve Jablonowski, Chris Jablonowski, and their families and cousins.

Ed was born in Columbus, Ohio, and later moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Ed’s family eventually settled in East Brunswick, New Jersey where Ed would grow up, meet Cindy Gruber, and raise his own family.

Ed attended Virginia Tech University following in the legacy of his father, where he studied forestry, business, and photography and was a brother of Phi Kappa Psi.

Returning to East Brunswick after college, Ed was involved in waste management and recycling during its infancy, working for National Waste, Killam Associates, and the town of East Brunswick. He started the first recycling center in town and had a part in distributing the recycling containers to individual homes we still use today. During this time, he also worked towards a Masters of Environmental Science at Cook College.

Ed then started in computers in the late-1990s, experimenting with the internet before many people had computers in their homes. He would go on to create and manage one of the most trafficked websites in the world at one time, bootdisk.com, a site that has helped hundreds of thousands of people recover their computers from viruses and errors. Often users would write in to tell him, “You saved my bacon.”

Ed was an entrepreneur throughout his life, starting a wedding videography business, multiple internet businesses, and a computer repair business called Multi-Task with his childhood best friend on Main Street in South River, NJ.

Ed had many skills and interests throughout his life including household carpentry, chess, photography, computers, boating, fishing, movies, and music. He had a passion for wildlife, nature, writing and philosophy.

Ed was authentic, had a big heart, and lived his life according to a set of values including honesty and the belief that most people are good. His charity was quiet, but he helped in ways that often went unnoticed.

In 2008, Ed moved to Burkesville, Kentucky. He had grown up vacationing in the area as a child and was drawn back to the mountains, lakes, and creeks. He loved the Kentucky land and passed away in a home he had filled with art, animals, and his family when they’d come to visit.
Ed leaves a huge hole as he passes on. He also leaves a legacy for his family of values and philosophy that will live on far beyond his passing. In his words, “I'm not afraid of death. Keeps me rocking…”

Rock and roll, Dad.

Donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the The Arbor Day Foundation, as Ed had an appreciation for the sanctity of trees.

Ed touched many lives. If you have memories or stories of Ed you’d like to share, please email gratefuled1313@gmail.com.
