He had made a profession of faith and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. He was a lineman for 5-Star Electric and was a contractor. He also previously worked at Aluminum Fabricators. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, while also being a gifted craftsman.
Survived by his wife of 31 years, Marla Gay Elkins Durrett of Green County having united in marriage on June 8, 1991.
Other survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law: Tanner and Gretchen Durrett of Summersville and Gannen Durrett of Greensburg; three grandchildren: Evie Durrett, Indi Durrett, and Brooks Durrett; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Mike and Judy Durrett, Steve and Stella Durrett all of Summersville; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ronnie Bishop of Summersville, Angie and Troy Houk of Greensburg, and Danny and Megan Elkins of Summersville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister and brother: Sharon Durrett Bishop and Don Douglas Durrett.
The funeral services for Troy Jay Durrett will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Central Time, Thursday, September 1. 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Bro. Casey Durrett and Bro. Dennis Penick officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Thursday until time of the funeral service.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Wilson Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
