Edith Richards, 67, of Russell Springs, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.
Edith was born January 15, 1950 in Somerset, Ky to the late Earl & Ruth Shepherd Burton.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Separate Baptist Church.

Also preceded in death by a brother: Charles Shepherd.

Survivors
Daughter: Sherry Lynn Beatty, Russell Springs
Granddaughter: Nolyn Beatty, Russell Springs

Funeral service for Edith Richards will be 10 AM. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Coffey officiating.
Visitation 6-8 PM. Tuesday and after 8 AM. Wednesday.
Interment in the Tarter Cemetery on Hwy 76, in Russell Springs.

William Thomas Rodriquez, 52, of Jamestown, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.  She was born August 27, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois to
the late William & Betty Taylor Rodriquez.

William was a HVAC Contractor.

Eleanor (Elli) Florence Lipschutz

Eleanor (Elli) Florence Lipschutz died on December 30, 2017 at Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born February 1, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Eugene and Dorothy Braunstone Lipschutz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel (who died in childhood), and a sister, Amy.

    Elli was known by many in Casey County as "the Dottidale lady". She moved to Casey County in 1984 with Amy and eleven retired Dalmatians. Elli and Amy had owned and operated the nationally known Dottidale Kennel in Millbrook, NY where they bred, raised, and trained champion Dalmatians, some of which were shown at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City as well as other national dog show venues.

    Elli was a talented artist and enjoyed working with her hands. In addition to her drawings, she designed and created animal dolls with beautiful handmade costumes.  She won many awards in local and state fairs with her creations.

   Elli is survived by cousins Herbert Snyder (Bethesda, MD) and Helen Granatelli (Staten Island, NY). She is also survived by special friends Betsy Allen-Smith (Warrenton, VA), Jerry Foster (Liberty, KY), and Joberta Wells (Yosemite, KY) plus many friends in the Dalmatian Club of America.

    At her request there will be no funeral or memorial service.

Rebecca Jean Hogue Lay

Rebecca Jean Hogue Lay of Liberty, Kentucky passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was 77 years of age.

Born January 8, 1940 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Etta Campbell Hogue. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Separate Baptist Church. Rebecca was a housewife and a former employee of Lee’s Famous Recipe. She enjoyed cooking, reading and caring for her family.

Survivors include one son, Charles (fiancé, Kathy Goode) Lay of Liberty; one daughter, Jyll (David) Shoemaker-Lay of Liberty; one sister, Delores Wilcher of Liberty; four grandchildren, Charlie, Adam, Bryan and MaKayla; one great-grandson, Eli; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rebecca is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Lay, who passed away February 12, 2014; one daughter, Loretta Lay Harris; three brothers, Charlie Hogue Jr., J.W. Hogue and Marvin Hogue; and one sister, Mary Helen Wethington.

Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Curtis and Bro. Steve Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 1, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

At 12:34 PM at the Casey County Hospital in Liberty, KY after an illness.

He was the son of the late; Estill and Dorothy Irene Taylor Asberry
Preceded in death by a sister Lula Asberry in 2017

Survived by four brothers:
Emmitt Asberry of Liberty, KY  Charlie Asberry of Russell Springs, Ky, Clinton Asberry of Russell Springs, and David Asberry of Columbia, KY
Four sisters:
Shirley Roark of Russell Springs, KY,   Lillie Roark of Columbia, KY, Minnie Sue Harrison of Columbia, KY,  and   Rebecca Brown of Columbia, KY
Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive

Marshall L. Bunch, 66, of the Chance Community in Adair County passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at 8:45 AM at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky  
He was born on May 21, 1951 in Somerset, KY the son of the late: Joseph Milton and Lilly Mae York Bunch, he was preceded by one daughter Shawnda Tabor on October 31, 2017 

Marshall was a member of the Union Chapel Church and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for 41 years. He sang with the Spirit Quartet for several years.
He was a retired lumber grader for Kentucky Tie and Lumber and J. Downey & Son Lumber. Marshall was a deputy jailer in Adair and Russell County Jails. He was also an avid horseman.

Two daughters: Theresa (Ricky) Stotts of Chance, KY
Sherry (Terry) Phillips of Chance, KY
One son: Christopher Bunch of Russell Springs, KY
Three brothers: David Bunch of Columbia, KY   Michael (Sandy) Bunch of Russell Springs, KY and Douglas (Kerry) Bunch of Russell Springs, KY
One sister:  Shirley (Robert) Rebennack of Indianapolis, IN
Nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren survive

And by  several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Martha Caldwell, 88, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at her home.
She was born March 22, 1929, in Adair County, to the late Mont and Mattie Keltner Maupin. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Caldwell on June 19, 1985, by her brother, James C. Maupin and two sisters, Libby Dohoney and Frances Pepper.  She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and retired from the USDA.

Survivors include:
One daughter – Marsha Grider and her husband Tommy of Columbia
One son – Bryan Caldwell and his wife Crystal of Columbia
Four grandchildren – Todd Grider and his wife Missy, Julie Tucker and her husband Chris, Grant and Mason Caldwell
One great-granddaughter – Paige Grider

Ellis Bishop

Ellis Bishop, age 91 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Cumberland Valley Manor. Ellis was born on March 10, 1926 in the Scoville community of Owsley County, KY to the late Scott W. and Bertha Combs Bishop.

Ellis was an Alumni of the University of Kentucky. He began working for the University in 1952. In 1958 he was appointed as the Cumberland County Extension Agent and served the county until his retirement in 1990. Ellis was a member and former deacon of Burkesville Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post 5419. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, McHenry Bishop, Matthew Bishop, Langley Bishop, and Jesse Paul Bishop, and one sister, Jeanette Rose.

Survivors Include:
His Wife- Jean Bishop of Burkesville, KY
Two Children- Andrea K. Bishop, and Charles E. Bishop both of Jacksonville, Florida
One Sister- Betty J. Bowling of Booneville, KY
Special Friend and Caregiver- Debbie Dubre and a host of other relatives and friends
