Ruby Arlene Hargis Taylor, 82, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on September 24, 1933; daughter of the late, Melvin and Thelma Bradley Hargis.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Marvis Taylor; one daughter, Paula & (Larry) King of Somerset; one brother, Noel Hargis of Somerset; three grandchildren, Susan Rene & (Ken) May, Loran Jason & (Olivia) King, and Andrea Michelle & (Doug) Bayles; and six great-grandchildren, Katie, Laryssa, Abbie, Maggie, Coleton, and Layla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Douglas Taylor; one sister, Lois Mize; and two brothers, Norman Hargis and Sidgel Hargis.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, April 1, 2016

Burial will be in Barnesburg Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. Ruby Arlene Taylor will be after 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016.

Charlotte Chaney

Charlotte Chaney passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Casey County Hospital. She was 67.

Born June 11, 1948 in Boyle County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Franklin Wilson and Frances White Wilson. She was a factory worker and enjoyed walking and riding her bike on Hwy 206.

Survivors include a daughter, Shanae (and Jason) Carpenter- Rosdhal of Liberty; and two grandsons, Austin Carpenter and Aiden Rosdhal.

Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. 

Visitation is Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until funeral service. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.

Dixie Hay Miller, age 79 of Green County, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: Jeri Lynn and Joe Stone of Campbellsville, Lisa Carol and James Brown of Upton, and Connie Gumm Noe of Hodgenville.

Two sons: Dennis Allan Gumm of Texas, William K. Gumm and his companion, Cathy Tapscott of Campbellsville.

A brother and sister-in-law: Ernie Lee Embry and Susie Embry of Brandenburg.

Seven Grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

A special friend: David Buts of Louisville.

The funeral services for Dixie Hay Miller will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Central Time, Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with cremation to follow.

Visitation is requested from 4 P.M., until 8 P.M., Friday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Saturday until time of the funeral service.

There will be a graveside service held at 2:00 P.M., Central Time, Sunday at the Hudson Cemetery in Leitchfield.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, or the American Heart Association, which can be made at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas Dale Whitlow

Mr. Thomas Dale Whitlow of Green County, Kentucky, son of the late Everett Stokley "Red" Whitlow and Nora Whitlow, was born on November 14, 1944 in Green County, and departed this life on Monday, March 28, 2016 at his home. He was 71 years, 4 months, and 14 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran having served from July 26, 1966 thru November 18, 1969, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Shawn and Casey Schaeffer of Green County; a daughter and son-in-law: Katrina and Willie Rucker of Upton; three grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Morris and Nancy Whitlow, Jeff Whitlow, and Rodney and Karen Whitlow all of Green County; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Nancy and Eddie Sinclair, and Liz and Billy Parson all of Green County; a sister-in-law: Lula Mae Whitlow Alexander of Green County; a brother-in-law: Carlos Bloyd of Elizabethtown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Whitlow was also preceded in death by a daughter: Shannon Whitlow Klassen on December 23, 2012; a grandson: Blake Thomas Whitlow on September 17, 2001; two brothers: Billy Whitlow and Clyde Whitlow; three sisters: Brenda Beard Ford, Louise Bloyd, and Geneva Bale.

The funeral services for Mr. Thomas Dale Whitlow will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery. Bro. Leslie Jewell and Bro. Dan Perkins will be officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 9 P.M., Cst., Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

James S. Netherland of Campbellsville, son of the late Isaac Carter Netherland and Olivia “Levia” Smith Netherland, was born October 1, 1921, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 94

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army Signal Corps. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Phillippine-Liberation Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
He was a retired employee of Parker-Kalon after twenty-two years of service and a farmer.
He united in marriage to Beulah Mardis November 14, 1942. 

Besides his wife, Beulah Netherland, he is survived by three sons and one daughter: Jim Netherland and wife, Cindy of Columbia, Tennessee, Joey Netherland and wife, Maria of Newton, North Carolina, Jerry Netherland and wife, Jan of Leitchfield and Janet Rafferty of Campbellsville; nine grandchildren: James Netherland wife, Maureen of Clarkson, Michigan, Donna Bownds and husband, Brian of Belton, Texas, Captain Stephen Netherland of Ft. Campbell, Jon Rafferty and wife, Carrie of Anderson, South Carolina, Nicholas Rafferty of Richmond, Virginia, Matthew Netherland and fiance’, Lyndsey Wise of Knifley, Patrick Netherland of Hickory, North Carolina, Jordan Netherland and wife, Katie of Campbellsville, Chelsi Allison and husband, Luke of Louisville; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one nephew and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Bownds May 27, 2013 and a sister, Helen VanDyke February 7, 2014.

Marie Burton Sallee age 93 years of Edinburg, IN formerly of Adair County passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Bell Trace Health & Living Center in Bloomington, IN.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1922 in Adair County. She was the daughter of the late John Wright & Dorinda Bryant Burton. 

She married Shelly Hansel Sallee on Aug. 5, 1942 & he proceeded her in death on April 15, 2003 also preceded in death by five brothers Jimmy, Rollin, Pete, Lawrence & Norman Burton
& four sisters Sophia Burton, Maudie Sinclair. Berthie Giles and Mary Jane Burton.
  
She is survived by one son: Shelly Sallee Jr. and wife Kimberly of Bloomington, IN.
Four grandchildren: Anita Owen and husband Kurt Kabula, Michelle Ayres,
Jill Burris and husband Mark, & Nichole Smith and husband Jeff.
Six great-grandchildren: Nick, Adam, Sam, Mike, Will & Addison.
Two brothers: Coy Burton and wife Carolyn of Columbia, KY & Edward “Cotton” Burton of Columbia, KY.
One sister: Reba Tankersly and husband Ray of Franklin, IN.
 
She was a member of the Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church.
She was known for her smile that would light up a room.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, reading her Bible, cooking, canning, quilting, working in her flower garden, and watching IU basketball

Margaret Ruth Kennedy, daughter of the late Cova and Grace Meece Wilson Meece, was born April 14th, 1938 and she departed this life on Monday March 28th, 2016 having attained the age of 77 years.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Cecil W. Kennedy. He preceded her in death. Other survivors include; two children, Kevin (and Paula) Kennedy, Sharon (and Rocky) Haste; two grandchildren, Courtney (and Brian) Kennedy, and Jaci West; three great grandchildren, Cali, Tucker, and Abby Kennedy.

Other than her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters, Ed Meece, Everett Meece and Dorothy Gaither.

Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Donovan Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family of Mrs. Margaret Ruth Kennedy will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31st.

Ruby May Spears Vaught, 86, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on January 20, 1930; daughter of the late Catron and Alta Phillips Spears. She worked for Palm Beach for a number of years. She was a homemaker and a member of Nelson Valley Baptist Church. She loved gospel music, gardening, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Jim & (Rhonda) Vaught of Science Hill; two daughters, Sherry & (Tony) Wilburn of Eubank, and Kim Sheehan of Science Hill; six grandchildren, Ben Wilburn & (Whitney), Amy Sheehan-Tannheimer & (Larry), Jamie Vaught Burton & (Jacob), Rachel Wilburn Nettle & (Randy), Aaron Sheehan, and Lindsey Vaught Bowling & (Mason); and five great-grandchildren, Ezra, Emma, and Silas Nettle, Maddie Wilburn, and Hamilton Tannheimer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Vaught; her parents; four brothers, Garvel Spears, George Spears, Howard Spears, and Raymond Spears; and one sister, Dee Crow.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Grant Hardwick officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation for Ruby May Spears Vaught will be after 11 AM Saturday at Pulaski Funeral Home until time for services.

Dianna June Turner was born in Princeton, Indiana to Harry & Pearl Jones on February 5, 1940. Dianna graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Indiana. Dianna accepted Christ as a young girl & went on to raise her children in Church serving at Wayman Chapel AME, Princeton, Indiana. There she was a part of the Prayer Group and a host of other Ministries.

Dianna is the widow of Rev. Oscar Turner whom she was married to for 50 years. She worked with her husband in the ministry while he served as Pastor at St. Paul Baptist Church, Princeton, Indiana, Jerusalem Chapel Church, Vincennes, Indiana, Second Baptist Church, Franklin, Indiana and finally Beulahland Full Gospel Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She retired from the State of Indiana after many years of service where she worked as a Supervisor in the Department of Motor Vehicles. Dianna was a Proverbs 31 Woman. She took care of her home, her husband and her children. She sewed, crocheted, cooked wonderful meals, raised a garden, canned vegetables and made homemade preserves & pickles. Dianna was a very charming woman with a loving heart. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Harriet Briggs, of Indianapolis, Indiana, son, Ricky Turner (Adria), of Indianapolis, Indiana, son, Oscar Ray Vaughn, of Campbellsville, Kentucky. Grandchildren: Ricky Cecil, Michael Green, Floyd Briggs, II, Adrianna Turner, Ashley Browner, Nathaniel Koch and Keenan Turner. Nine Great Grand Children and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son, Kelly Turner and her husband Oscar Turner. Two sisters, Wanda Vardiman and Velma Howard and two brothers, Lennis Jones and Ulysses Donnavan who died in gestation.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the eulogy by Rev. Michael Caldwell. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Green, Floyd Briggs,II, Rickey Cecil, Keenan Turner, Ron Turner, Randall Graves and Steven Grady.

Evelyn Hedgespeth of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Tenley Underwood and Lilly Caulk Underwood, was born October 12, 1926 in Larue County, Kentucky. She died at 5:10 A.M., Monday, March 28, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 89

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Zion Separate Baptist Church.
She was a child care provider, having cared for more than forty families over several generations and a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Hardin Hedgespeth August 25, 1948. He preceded her in death September 23, 2007. 

She is survived by one son and one daughter: Glenn Hedgespeth and Janice Mann and husband, Ron of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Shelly Gribbins and husband, Rev. Mike Gribbins, Shannon Taylor and husband, Jaysen and Travis Sprowles and fiance’, Tera Pierce of Campbellsville; two great-granddaughters: Madison Ferrie and Chloe Gribbins of Campbellsville; three step-grandsons: Brandon Mann, Jeremy Mann and Jason Mann; nine step-great-grandchildren: Makenzie Taylor, Jada Pierce, Jesslynne Mann, Cole Mann, Haley Mann, Sophie Mann, Briley Mann, Lilly Mann and Gunner Mann; two brothers: Harden Underwood of Louisville and O’Dell Underwood and wife, Gayle of Hodgenville; one sister-in-law, Iris Underwood of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Claude Underwood; a granddaughter, Melissa Jo Hedgespeth and a great-grandson, Matthew Gribbins.
