Flossie Kathleen “Bell” Cox Taylor, age 88, of Lebanon, passed Friday, September 30, 2016 at Spring view Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1929 in Indiana. 

She is preceded in death by: Husband: Edward O. Taylor. Parents: Pete and Lizzie Cox. Step-Daughter: Linda White. Brother: Jay Cox. Half Brothers: Jim and Wesley Cox. Half Sisters: Mary Thompson and Myrtle Bright. 

Survivors include: Daughter: Sheila (James) Brady—Raywick, KY. Granddaughter: Amanda Cole—Bardstown, KY. Grandson: Nicholas Brady—Bardstown, KY. Two Half Brothers: Wesley and Howard Cox. Half Sister: Creola Biggs. Step-Sister: Edna Cox. Special friends: Mary Tom and Tommy Cox. 

A Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 04, 2016 at Bosley Funeral Home; Interment to follow in the Lebanon National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:30 P.M. at Bosley Funeral Home.

Mildred Russell Foster

Mildred Russell Foster of Casey County, KY passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 on her 91st birthday surrounded by her loving family. 

Born September 28, 1925 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late John Russell and Beatrice Dick Russell Thomas. She was a homemaker and faithful member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church for over fifty years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideon’s International.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernie M. Foster, shortly after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary; a daughter, Vickie Karen Foster; three brothers, J.H. Russell, Billie Russell, and Charlie Russell; and four sisters, Beulah Morgan, Imogene Austin, Flora Luttrell, and Alice Tarter.

Survivors include a son, Rick (and Kelley) Foster of Somerset; daughter, Rita (and Mike) Presley of Somerset; five grandchildren, Russell (and Jennifer) Presley, Jeff (and Emily) Presley, Dustin Foster, Kelly (and Brian) Caudill, and Cassandra (and Justin) Jones; eleven great-grandchildren, Emma, Rachel, Kate, Ella, Jackson, Bailey, Blake, Chloe, Sophie, Peyton, and Madalynn; sister, JoAnn Joines of Liberty; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Russell and Gertie Russell, both of Ohio.

Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Bethelridge Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 6:00-9:00 P.M at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and will continue Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Gideon’s International or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Lora Lynn Shell passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at her home in Nicholasville, KY. She was 50 years old.

Born November 29, 1965 in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Grover E. Shell and Lucille Brown Shell Hughes. She was a homemaker and had a passion for lions and tigers.

Survivors include a son, Freddy Cobb of Nicholasville; daughter, Natasha Cobb of Nicholasville; two grandchildren; and three brothers, Kenneth (and Libby) Shell of Springfield, KY, David (and Brenda) Brown of Blanchester, Ohio and Mark (and Morah) Shell of Georgetown, KY.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Steven Shell.

Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 3, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 12:30 P.M. until funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.

John Stewart "Stu" Lyons age 82 years of Columbia, KY passed away at his home Tuesday , September 27, 2016 at 5:06 PM.
He was born in Salt Lick, KY on June 13, 1934 the son of the late John Newton and Anna Beatrice Staton Lyons.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Henreitta Elizabeth Lyons on March 11, 2011

Survived by one daughter Sonia Shane and her husband Bart of Baltimore, Maryland
One son: Jon Scott Lyons of Old Town, Florida
One brother: Roger Lyons of Kissimmee, Florida
Three sisters: 
Delma Perrine of Old Town, Florida; Mary Lou Griffin of Orlando, Florida and Betty Balogh of Houston, Texas
Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends survive

Mr. Lyons was retired from the aerospace industry in Florida and was a US Air Force veteran and made his home in Columbia, KY for several years. 

Funeral service: Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home

James Shelton Raikes of Elk Horn, son of the late Lucian Raikes and Ella Smothers Raikes, was born December 18, 1928, in Marion County, Kentucky. He died at 5:42 A.M., Monday, September 26, 2016 in Elk Horn. Age: 87

He professed faith in Christ and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 
He was a retired farmer.
 

He is survived by one brother and four sisters: Bill Raikes and wife, Wilma of Bradfordsville, Ruth Raikes of Campbellsville, Helen McCarty and husband, Donald and Wanda Carpenter of Lebanon and Roberta Hourigan and husband, Eugene of Danville; special niece, Shelby Clark of Campbellsville; several other nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: George Lem Raikes, Ida Mary Price and Minnie Lee Scantland.

VISITATION: 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home

Raymond Fifield, age 62 year(s), 11 month(s), 27 day(s) of Russell Springs, Kentucky passed away , Wednesday September 28, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born  on , Friday October 02, 1953 in Long Beach, California Son of : 
     His  Mother, Belva Fifield, (Bales) , Judith Gap, Montana      

 Proceeded in death by His  Father, Kenneth Fifield Sr. and 2 sisters Charlene Pennington     and Ginger Fifield.     

He is also survived by : 
    2 Sisters
     Debi Wilson, Russell Springs, Kentucky  and  Clare Jacobson, Pendleton, Oregon    
    1 Brother
     Kenny Fifield Jr. , Judith Gap, Montana   
A host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Cremation was chosen and  a private memorial will be held later.
Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Emma Jean Varela, age 86 of Liberty, KY passed away on Wednesday September 28th, 2016 at Danville Center for Health and Rehab. She was born in Louisville, KY on June 16th, 1930 the daughter of the late Edward Jesse and Emma Mary Scott Curtis.

Emma was a waitress.

Survivors include: Four Daughters: Sandy Chaves of Arizona, Pam and (Jerry) Hebrock of Liberty, Gail Andrews of Colorado and Vickie and (George) High of Liberty, Three Sons: Elmer Carlton Dowell Jr of Florida, Rob and (Joanne) Dowell of Florida and Gary Dowell of Arizona, Several Grandchildren, Several Great Grandchildren, Several Great Great Grandchildren and One Sister: Dorothy Carter of Louisville, KY.

Besides her parents Emma was also preceded in death by Eleven Siblings.

Cremation Rites were honored by Bartle Funeral Home.

Latoka Rose (Warf) Wilson

Latoka Rose (Warf) Wilson, age 84, of Edmonton, died Tuesday evening, September 27, 2016,  in Ocala, Florida.  Born July 18, 1932, in Edmonton,  KY, she was the last surviving daughter of the late Goble and Betty Warf of Liletown.  Latoka was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Wilson.  

Latoka was a dedicated homemaker, whose greatest joy was her family.  Latoka entered the workforce at the Union Underwear Company in Campbellsville, KY.  Many years later she retired from the Union Underwear Company to become a full-time homemaker - which she loved! Latoka was a member of Grace Union Baptist Church. She is survived by her only child, Steve A. Whitlock of Ocala, FL, daughter-in-law, Georgia, and five grandchildren (Steve and Joey of Louisville, Micah of Lexington, and Remy and Cole of Ocala).   Latoka is also survived by two of Woodrow's children, Verner (Bonnie) Wilson and Shelia (Jimmy)Young.  Latoka welcomed all family and friends into her home, and always included the seven step-grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.  Grandson Woody Wilson occupied a special place in her heart.  Latoka enjoyed cooking and was always ready to offer a meal or a piece of cake when visitors arrived.  Latoka lived her life as a faithful servant of the Lord, loving others and caring for those in need.

Latoka is also survived by her younger brother, Geneal Warf of Edmonton.  Her four other brothers and her three sisters preceded her in death. Her step-son, Steve, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 1:00PM at Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday morning at 10:00AM, prior to the funeral.  Arrangements are under the direction of Butler Funeral Home.

Frankie Gosa, 96, of Columbia, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 1:36 P.M. at Taylor Regional Hospital. 

She was born July 15, 1920, in Cardiff, Alabama, to the late George Anderson & Nell Birchie Beulah Lankford Shadrick.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rhonda Gosa.  She retired from Bremner Biscuit Company in Louisville. 

Survivors Include: 
Three Daughters – Phyllis Keltner of Columbia, Sherry Gosa-Domeck & Judy Sumner-McCombs both of Louisville 
Five Grandchildren – Denise Adamson, Karen Keltner, Susan Wise, Donnie Ray Vermillion, Jr. & Christian M. Sumner 
12 Great-Grandchildren & Five Great-Great-Grandchildren also survive 

Funeral Service – Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Reliford officiating 

Burial will follow the service in Union Cemetery 

Visitation after 10:00 A.M., Saturday
