Kenny O’Neal Beal, age 53, of Liberty, KY passed away on Thursday July 28th, 2016 at the Casey County Hospital. He was born in Liberty, KY on March 15th, 1963 to the late Raymond O’Neal and Betty Genell Cochran Beal.

Kenny was a former truck driver, former security guard at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, he was the former owner of Kenny and Son’s Garage, former maintenance employee for Fruit of the Loom, Tarter’s and Wrights Implement and former Volunteer firefighter with Brush Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Kenny’s hobby was his love of woodworking and flying.

Survivors include: His Spouse: Teresa Cook Beal, Two Sons: Andrew O’Ryan Beal of Campbellsville and Jeffrey O’Brian Beal of Liberty and Three Sisters: Glinda Beal, Wanda Austin and Anita Hayes all of Liberty.

Besides his parents Kenny was also preceded in death by One Son: Micheal O’Neal Beal. 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Sunday July 31st, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 8:00 A.M. Monday August 1st, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday August 1st, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Scott Cochran officiating. Burial will be in the Peyton Cemetery

Kassie Marie Underwood, age 91, of Hodgenville, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was a member of Wesley Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Nationwide Uniform Company.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Underwood in 1982; her parents, Elmer Wesley and Nancy Stillwell Underwood; two sisters, Cora Alice Curry and Dortha Mae Underwood and four brothers, Rev. Edgar, Henry, Stanley and Herman Underwood.

She is survived by two daughters, Rachel Cline of Rineyville and Martha Underwood of Hodgenville; a son, David (Connie) Underwood of Hodgenville; two sisters, Virgie Thompson and Essie (Bobby) McDowell all of Hodgenville; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at the Wesley Chapel Baptist Church in Hodgenville with Bro. Robert Jewell officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM Monday and 10 AM to 12:30 PM Tuesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

Mrs. Geneva Christine Abell, age 80 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Flaget Hospital in Bardstown, KY. She was born on August 22, 1935 in Marion County, KY. Mrs. Abell was a homemaker. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Minnie Lenora Rogers Riley; sister, Delcia Mae Abell; brother, Willis Floyd Riley; two infant children, Bobby and Margaret Elizabeth Riley. 

Survivors include husband, James Lawrence Abell, Jr.; daughter, Ann Michelle (Paul) Cundiff, of Greeensburg, KY; three sons, James Lawrence Abell, lll, of Shelbyville, KY, John Abell, of Shelbyville, KY, Joseph Timothy (Elizabeth) Abell, of Shelby County, KY; two sisters, Donnie Sue Luckett, of Louisville, KY, Linda Lou Caldwell, Radcliff, KY; two brothers, Robert (Ruby) Riley, of Bardstown, KY, Jerry (Julie) Riley, of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Caroline Price Riley, of Louisville, KY. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment to follow in Ryder Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Bosley Funeral Home. Prayer services will be held at 7:00 Sunday evening by Deacon Joe Dant.

Clifton N. Reeder, 84, of Jamestown, KY passed away on Fri. July 29th at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home.

Clifton was born in Jamestown, KY on May 28, 1932, a son of the late Judith (Johnson) and Luther Reeder.

He is survived by 
two sons Wade Reeder,(Sherry) and Jeffrey Reeder, (Joan) both of Jamestown, KY
two daughters Rebecca Hall,(Fred), of Louisville,KY and Shelia Gilbert,(Michael) of Jamestown,KY
five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren also survive.

Clifton is preceded in death by his parents, wife Rejina (Andrews) Reeder, sister Emma Jean Reeder, and five brothers Hall, Quincy, Alex, Raymond and Jehue Reeder.

Funeral Services for Clifton N. Reeder will be Mon. Aug.1st, 11:00am at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY with Bro. Bill Welker and Bro. Ken Charlton officiating.
Friends may visit on Sun. July 31st after 4:00pm at the funeral home.

William R. “Bill” Smith

Gunnery Sergeant William R. “Bill” Smith of Campbellsville was born on April 10, 1954 to the late E.J. and Barbara (Ferguson) Smith in Orange, Texas. He departed this life Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was 62 years, 3 months, and 18 days of age. GySgt Smith retired from active duty in the United States Marine Corps after 21 years of service. He was the proud husband of Mrs. Gay (Cottrell) Smith, who survives. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hard work, and found relaxation outdoors by raising flowers and a garden, reading, and hunting and fishing.


   He leaves to carry his legacy:
His wife: Gay Smith
Two sons: William Smith and companion Chelsey of Lexington, and Donnie Hartsock of Louisiana,
Two siblings: Debbie and E.J., both of Texas,
Four grandchildren,
Special family friends: Stacey, Tracie, Tammy, and Suzanne,
And a host of other family and close friends.


   He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Stevie and Bonnie.


   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of GySgt. Smith on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 31, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST.
   There will be an interment service on Thursday, August 4, at 11:00 AM EST at the Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Highway 208, Lebanon, KY 40033. Full military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mary Edna (Banks) Blaydes

Mary “Edna” Blaydes, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Kentucky. 

She was born in Cane Valley, Kentucky, on April 15, 1920, the daughter of the late Ben and Audrey Dillingham Banks. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Woodrow Blaydes; two sisters, Madge Farris and Frances Moore. 

Mrs. Blaydes is survived by one daughter, Janice Yarberry; two grandchildren, Karla (Robert) Davis and Brian (Mandi) Yarberry; four great-grandchildren, Grace and Will Davis, Abby and Alex Yarberry all of Louisville, Kentucky. 

Mrs. Blaydes was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1938.  She also graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 1940.  She went on to graduate from Campbellsville College with a bachelor of arts degree in education.  After teaching in a one-room school at Bull Run, she taught 3rd grade at Knifley Grade Center and retired from the Adair County School System after 24 years of service. 

She was a devoted and active member of the Columbia Union Presbyterian Church.  She was a member of the choir for many years and was a member in the Presbyterian Women’s group.  She was also an avid gardener and active in the Daylight Homemakers group. 

Funeral service – Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home 

Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery 

Visitation after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday until service time

Herman Wood (H.W.) Roach

Herman Wood (H.W.) Roach, 90, of Greer, SC, died July 28, 2016 at Open Arms Hospice after a brief illness. 

H.W. was born in Breeding, Kentucky, on May 25, 1926, to the late Lou Willia and A.H. Roach. In addition to his parents, H.W. was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruby McKinney Roach. 

Mr. Roach was a graduate of Breeding High School.  Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II from 1944-1946, in the Pacific Theatre. 

Mr. Roach was a retired farmer and businessman. He was a faithful member of Beulah Chapel Brethren in Christ Church and served many years as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher. 

He was dedicated to community service as well:  Adair County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 40 years, Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors, member of VFW Post 6097, member of the Adair County Fair Board, Adair County Water District Board of Directors and a member of Gideons International. 

Survivors include: 
Two sons – Hal (Katie) Roach of Greenville, SC, Brent (Tamara) Roach of Statesville, NC 
Five grandchildren – Katherine Roach, Cherylyn Groh, Michael Groh, John Roach, Olivia Roach 
His extended family – Kenneth Ballou, Gary and Doris Lane, Murray and Juanita Scott, Donald and Bobbie McKinney, Harold and Carol McKinney 
Numerous nieces, nephews and special friends 

Funeral service – Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Beulah Chapel Brethren in Christ Church with Bro. Clifton Bennett officiating 

Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery 

Visitation after 4:30 P.M. Friday, August 5, 2016 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the church.

Gary Lynn passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his home in Liberty, KY. He was 66.

Born March 30, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Ira and Ola Murphy Lynn. He was a car salesman and a member of the Liberty Haven of Hope Church. Gary was known as a “Car Guy” all of his life.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nettie Cochran Lynn, who he married March 8, 1966; four sons, Jeff (and Sonja) Lynn of Liberty, Gary (and Kelly) Lynn of Georgetown, Brad (and Milessa) Lynn of Georgetown, and Mark (and Missy) Lynn of Liberty; two daughters, Kim Lynn of Liberty and Michelle (and Tommy) Lynn of Liberty; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Francis of Indianapolis and Lois Beck of Louisville.

In addition to his parent, he is preceded in death by a son, Steven Lynn; three brothers, Lowell, Donnie, and Orvis Lynn; and a sister, Lucille Neff.

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Ryan Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 5:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral and will continue Sunday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral service. 

Pallbearers are Todd Lynn, Gary S. Lynn, Eddie Allen, Mikey Luttrell, Tyler Lynn, Steven Lynn, Kayla Lynn, Lacey Lynn, and Tommy Jones.

Timothy Charles Elmore son of Clinton and Julie Ann Mercer Elmore of Glasgow, was stillborn Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

In addition to his parents he is survived by 1 brother Kaleb Austin Elmore, maternal grandparents Timothy and Carol Mercer of Glasgow: Paternal grandparents Jeffrey Charles Elmore of Park City and Katherine Graven and husband William David of TN:  maternal great grandparents Opal and Amos Mercer; Paternal great-grandfather Charles Elmore of TX; 2 aunts Rachel Mercer and Kaci Hubbard both of Glasgow and 1 nephew William Graven of Edmonson County.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  There will no visitation.  A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
