Glendo Popplewell

Glendo Popplewell, of Russell Springs, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Russell County Hospital.  He was 90 years of age.

Born on April 21,1931, in Jamestown, he was a son of the late Larkin and Cora F. George Popplewell.  Glendo worked as a farm hand most of his life and was known for farming with his mules.

Survivors include his sister, Marie Badgley, of Russell Springs; and host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glendo was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert, Londo, Curtis and Donald Popplewell; and his sisters, Zilma Morton and Faye Stephens.

Funeral Services
are 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Dunbar officiating.  Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Bernard Funeral Home, until time for funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concord Cemetery c/o Jerry Morton.

Paul W. Wilson

Paul W. Wilson, of Russell Springs, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 29, 2021, surrounded by his family.  He was 72 years of age.

Born on July 18, 1949, in Somerset, he was the son of the late Lester and Hazel Robertson Wilson.  Paul was a teacher in the Russell County School system who taught business classes and typing.  He retired from teaching after working for more than 20 years.  Paul enjoyed woodworking and restoring old tractors and Case knives. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Abrell Wilson, whom he wed on July 23, 1970; two daughters, Mitzi (and Kermit) Gossage, of Russell Springs, and Kim (and Ulysses) Hayes, of Georgetown; one sister, Ruth Lynn (and Laurel) Rexroat, of Russell Springs; five grandchildren, Hannah (and Jordan) Brumley, Logan Conner, Lexie Hayes, Jonah Hayes, and Max Hayes; a great grandchild, Owen Brumley; and a niece, Amy Rexroat.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his uncle, Ollie J. Robertson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Lehman and Bro. Johnny Hood officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Friendship Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, and after 8:00 AM on Sunday, until time of services.

Ned Cunningham, Steven Collins, Billy Collins, Ryan Abrell, Steve Richardson, and Jared Harrell, will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.

Judy Garland Tooley was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in Burkesville, KY to the late Culman and Annie Lee Rowe Alexander. She departed this life on July 29, 2021 at the age of 69 in Louisville, KY. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter- Garnita Randolph and five siblings- Nathaniel Alexander, Elise Alexander, Earl Alexander, Sumona Alexander and Rachel Alexander. 

Survivors Include:
Her Husband: David E. Tooley
2 children: Rashidah Tooley and David R. Tooley
3 Grandchildren: Germaine Randolph, Michelle Randolph and Davion Colbert
7 Sisters: Ella Louise Alexander, Leara Woolridge (Gerald), Lee Edna Floyd, Teresa Legg, Alfonda Harkonen (John), Maurine Ward (Theo Warren) and Garnita Alexander.
1 Brother: Terry Lee Alexander (Betty)
7 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Walter Lloyd Cross, age 80 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at his home. Lloyd was born on November 07, 1940 in Clinton County, KY  to the late Elmer Cross and Eva Murphy Cross. Lloyd was a member of Sexton Fork Baptist Church and a retired employee of Mallory's in Glasgow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Winfred Cross and three sisters, Sue Garrett, Gendalene Gibson, and Mary Dean Smith. 

Survivors Include:

One Son- Dale Cross(Sandra Dyer) of Burkesville, KY
Four Brothers- Earnest Cross, Allen Cross(Nancy), and Carl Cross(Elaine) all of Albany, KY and Robert Cross of Columbia, KY
Three Sisters- Laura Ellen Sidwell of Indiana, Becky Daniels(Leon) and Shirley Hickman(Wayne) both of Albany, KY
Sister-in-law- Jamah Thrasher of Burkesville, KY
Special Friend- Tommy Hurt and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.

Patricia was born in Knoxville, TN on December 14, 1944, a daughter of the late Velma (Covey) and James E Thacker. 

She was a homemaker 

Patricia is survived by 
a daughter, Melissa Schmidt 
three sons Jeffrey McGlone, Greg McGlone, and Douglas McGlone 

She is also survived by 6 Grandchildren

Earl Bradshaw, 81, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was born May 25, 1940, in Adair County, to the late Granville and Ella Stotts Bradshaw.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Wilson Bradshaw on September 4, 2012.  Earl was a member of Columbia Church of Christ, a self-employed automobile body repairman, worked at the Recycling Center and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include:
One son – Patrick (Tammy) Bradshaw of Columbia
Two daughters – Sandy Bradshaw and Beverly (Clay) Jones all of Columbia
Two sisters – Irene Pike of Campbellsville and Mildred (Bobby) Sneed of Gradyville
Eight grandchildren – Josh Grant, Adam (Kelly) Grant, Emily (Jon) Billingsley, Cortney (Stephen) Edwards, Lacey (Eric) Rooks, Cameron Lee, Kaylee Warf, Mason Bradshaw

Reba Moore Akin, 88, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born July 4, 1933, in Adair County.  Preceding her in death is her father, Arvis Raymond Moore, her mother, Ruth Hamilton Pinkney, her husband, Finley Akin, her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rochelle Akin, a granddaughter, Sarah Akin Morrison and three great-grandchildren, Kayson and Lathan Morrison and Austin Bryant.

She was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, worked at Fruit of the Loom for several years and retired as a CNA from T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

Survivors include:
Her daughter and son-in-law – Sharon and Rocky Morrison of Columbia
Her grandson – Chad Morrison and his wife Angie of Columbia
Her granddaughter – Robin Branham and her husband Wesley of Columbia
Six great-grandchildren – Riley Bryant and his wife Cecily, Jamison Ford, Katelyn and Emillee Morrison, Jessica Nuszbaum and Aaron Branham

​Brady Conrad Button, 45, of Glasgow, left us for his Heavenly home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born August 16, 1975 in Warren County to the late Freddie Button and Debbie (David) Button Wells, who survives. Brady attended Eastern Elementary and Temple Hill Elementary before attending Barren County High School. During his high school career he was a basketball standout. He was named to the first team all-region, two years all-district, and was a member of his high school’s 1,000 point club. After high school, he attended Lindsey Wilson College from 1993-1998 earning a Bachelor of Arts with emphasis in finance and management. As a Blue Raider, Brady was a shooting guard on the Men’s basketball team and was named 1995 homecoming king by his student body. He played a key role on the 1996-1997 Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball team, which made the program’s first appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Brady stayed active in the Adair County Community and was a member of Adair County Chamber of Commerce. 
 
Brady married the love of his life, Emiley Wyatt Button, on August 31, 2002 and they are the proud parents of Landree Ellan (13) and Laken Wyatt (9). He was a loyal member of Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. Brady was employed since 2005 at Lindsey Wilson College where he was the Director of Major Gifts. He was also the Barren County Middle School boy’s 7th grade basketball coach and the Barren County Trojanettes Elementary travel team coach. Brady was also a little league basketball and baseball coach for the last several years.
 
In addition to his mother, loving wife, and children, survivors include, three brothers, Brian Button (Danielle), Blake Button (Angie), Brock Button (Rebekah); maternal grandmother, Margaret Bradley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melanie Shirley (Brian), Jason Wyatt (Alisha); one uncle, Larry Button; one aunt, Linda Button; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Donnie Wyatt; nieces and nephews, Sarah Button, Marlie Shirley, Alexis Button, Jared Wyatt, Robbie Cain, Dax Button, Myles Shirley, Bryce Button, Cade Button, Macon Shirley; and his furry friend, Dollie the mini golden doodle. 
 
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Helen Button; maternal grandparent, Bobby Bradley; and great maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Sneed. 
 
An endowed scholarship has been established at Lindsey Wilson College in Brady’s memory. The family suggests gifts in memory of Brady be made to The Brady C. Button Endowed Scholarship. Gifts can be made at the funeral home or mailed to Lindsey Wilson College Development Office 210 Lindsey Wilson Street Columbia, Kentucky 42728 Attention: The Brady C. Button Endowed Scholarship. 
 
Another way to honor Brady’s memory would be to make donations to 37SPFA (Sun Protection For All). This is the organization that Landree started in honor of her dad. All donations received will be forwarded to the American Melanoma Association P.O. Box 51763 Bowling Green, Kentucky 42102. 
 
The funeral service for Mr. Button will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 31st at the Glasgow Baptist Church with burial in the Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM and 9:00 AM Saturday morning until time for the service at the church. A. F. Bonnie was born in Jamestown, KY on February 23, 1937, a daughter of the late Roxie (Burchett) and Clarence Russell. 

Bonnie is survived by 
two daughters, Judy, wife of Jim Heathman, of Jamestown, KY; 
Alice, wife of Roy Lawless, of Jamestown, KY; 
a son, Tommy, husband of Ramona York, of Jamestown, KY; 
daughter in law Lisa York, of Jamestown, KY 
three sisters, Linda Hammond, of Russell Springs, KY; Leffie Russell, of Russell Springs, KY; Sue McWhorter, of Jamestown, KY.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends, 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin (Slim) York, son Stevie York, grandson Jeremy Heathman, brothers Ernest Russell and Freddy Russell and a sister Juanita Bell.
