Willie Mason “Bill” French

Willie Mason “Bill” French of Campbellsville, son of the late George French and Emon Whitlock French, was born October 19, 1921, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 11:44 P.M., Sunday, April 29, 2018 in Campbellsville.   Age: 96

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Pentecostal faith. Bill was instrumental in starting the Jesus Name Church and he steadily reaffirmed the importance of walking with Jesus to his family.

He was a retired farmer, enjoyed gardening and in his early years, worked at a sawmill in Elk Horn.  

He is survived by two daughters: Viola Sneed and Leona Price of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren: Angie McFall and husband, Larry, Robbie Wilson and wife, Shannon, Daren Wilson and wife, Suzanne of Campbellsville, Karen Clark of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Sharon Clements and Patsy Sluder of Campbellsville, Patricia Pyles of Pensacola Florida and Billy Ray Perkins and wife, Sharon of Greensburg; special great-granddaughter and caregiver, Mason Taylor Wilson of Campbellsville; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roy French of Raywick and Kenneth Hardin French of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Olia Mae DeWitt Harris French; two grandchildren: Rhonda Mae Richerson and Naomia Keith; three brothers and four sisters: Chester French, Walter French, Charlie French, Mildred Wheatley, Opal Scott, Bertha French and Dorothy French and two step-children: Kenneth Harris and Frances Cave.

Mable L. Kemplen age 75 of Fairfield, Illinois died on Sunday April 22, 2018 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois. She was a homemaker. Mable was born May 5, 1942 in Albany, Kentucky to Luther Vincent and Flossie Sheckles Vincent. She was united in marriage July 6, 1964 in Pickett County, Tennessee to Edwin Kemplen. Mable was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. 

Survivors include her husband Edwin Kemplen of Fairfield, Illinois; 3 sons Elmer Kemplen and his wife Betty of Fairfield, Illinois, Melvin Kemplen and his wife Sandy of Fairfield, Illinois and Joe Kemplen and his wife Cheryl of Albion, Illinois; 4 sisters Jean Ooten of Glasgow, Kentucky, Brenda Mueller of Glasgow, Kentucky, Martha Asberry of Burkesville, Kentucky and Linda Porter of Burkesville, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

George Edward Coon, III, 65, of Harrodsburg passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Born August 1, 1952, he was the son of the late George Edward Coon, Jr and JoAnn Gurden Crofoot.

Edward is survived by his wife of 28 years, Julie R. Howe Coon; son, George Edward Coon, IV of Harrodsburg; daughters Andrea Coon-Warner (Chad) and Danielle Coon; sisters Cindy Collins and Sue Bensinger (Gale); and grandsons, Levi and Evan, all of Michigan.

Ed loved fishing, being around water, and woodworking. He was a 20-year employee of Clark Material Handling. Ed enjoyed sharing stories and meeting people.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday May 01, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, Kentucky with Bro. Greg Estes officiating.
Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Highway 80, Russell Springs, Kentucky.

Wilbur Wilson, 86, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Russell County Hospital. He was born November 29, 1931 in Russell County to the late Vertis & Lura Popplewell Wilson.

He was a truck driver and a member of Good Tidings Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by a son, Donald; 4 siblings, Bethel Rexroat, Ozzie Wilson, Ermel Wilson, Arnett Wilson.

Mrs. Nancy Ellen Williams Daugherty, age 90 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at Spring View Hospital. She was born on January 11, 1928 in Lebanon. Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she taught religion classes. Nancy also served as treasury of the Marion County Handicapped Association and was a member of the American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Clifton Daugherty (2013); parents, William Carl and Mary Russell Williams; sisters, Carlita Browning and Sara Elder.

Survivors include four sisters, Wanda Buckman, Eleanor Caldwell, Jeanie Daugherty, Suzanne Buckman, all of Lebanon, KY; two brothers, Edd Williams, of Lebanon, KY and Larry Williams, of Campbellsville, KY. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Charles Catholic Church, celebrated by Rev. David Naylor. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Bosley Funeral Home. Prayer Services will be held at 7:00 Sunday evening by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air or the Marion County Handicapped Association.

Margaret Pickett O'Banion

Margaret Pickett O'Banion of Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of the late Leslie Pickett and Eula Keltner Pickett, was born on Sunday March 14, 1920 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Traditions Assisted Living in Indiana. She was 98 years, one month, and 11 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville First United Methodist Church. Mrs. O'Banion was also a retired Elementary School Teacher.

She united in marriage to Russell Hay O'Banion on April 17, 1947 who preceded her in death on February 6, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Susan and John Roederer of Indiana; two grandchildren: John Christian "Chris" Roederer of Indiana, and Elizabeth Kathryn "Beth" Roederer of Ohio; a brother: Brooks Pickett of Louisville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters: William Pickett, Charles Pickett, Austin Pickett, Gene Pickett, Julia Curd, and Cecelia McConnell.

The funeral services for Margaret Pickett O'Banion will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Central Time, Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Ed Loy and Dr. Neil Salvaterra officiating.  
Visitation is requested after 9:00 A.M., Central Time, Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.

Memorials are suggested to the Greensburg United Methodist Church Building Fund, Greensburg U.M.C. Youth Program, or the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

John S. Ford, age 61, of Dunnville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at his residence.  Born September 30, 1956, in Bradshaw, WV, he was a son of the late Charles and Grace Muncey Ford.

John was a former employee of Tarter Industries.

Survivors include a host of cousins and a special friend, Christine Smith of Hustonville.

John was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.

Burial will take place in Bradshaw, WV next to his parents. There will be no service or visitation.

Harry “Sonny” Lauber, Jr

Harry “Sonny” Lauber, Jr., age 71, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Campbellsville, Kentucky.  Sonny was born on November 10, 1947 in Archbold, Ohio to Angela and Harry Lauber.  Sonny graduated from Archbold High School in 1965.

His business endeavors included AG Applicators (crop dusting), Stacy Mansion Bed and Breakfast and a buffalo farm.  He enjoyed family, friends and Joyce’s cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, a son Patrick, a step-son, Darrel (Jessie), grandchildren, Taylor, Devin and Makayla.  He is also survived by his brother, Paul (Sue), Ted (Edna) and sister, Deborah and close family friend, Eddie.

Known for his kind heart, he will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed.  A private family memorial service is planned.

Arrangements were under the care of Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, Campbellsville, KY.
