Andy Withers, 60, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Friday, May 29, 2020 at TJ Health/Columbia.
He was born June 5, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky and of the Baptist faith.  Andy owned and operated Withers Geo Thermal Drilling, Inc.

His father, Avis Withers, preceded him in death.

Survivors include:
His wife – Debbie Kerns Withers of Columbia
Two sons – Clint Withers of Chicago, Illinois, Cody Withers of Columbia
Two daughters – Sarah Melton & Keely Withers both of Columbia
Six grandsons – Beau, Bleu, Boone & Beacher Melton, Hank & Huck Withers
His mother – Jeanette Keith and her husband, David, of Columbia
Four sisters – Treva Sparks, Carolyn Burton & Sandy Janes all of Columbia, Sherry Curry of Frankfort
Three brothers – Bobby, Terry & Billy Withers all of Columbia
Several other relatives & friends

Joe Kerns

Joe Kerns, 77, of Columbia, Kentucky, completed his earthly journey on Friday, May 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was born August 18, 1942, in Adair County, to the late Hobert and Pearl Coffey Kerns.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Isham (Little Bud), Charlie and Leroy Kerns and three sisters, Alta Burnett, Allene Burton and Dorothy Kerns.

Joe served in the United States Army, was a mechanic, carpenter, farmer, owned and operated Kerns Grocery, Kerns Auction and a licensed Barber.  Joe was a man of many talents but mostly he was an honest man.  If he gave you his word, you could take it to the bank and if he was your friend he had your back.  He loved helping people and sharing any knowledge he had with anyone when he thought he would help.  He loved playing pranks and scaring his grandkids.  He was a long-standing member of the Lewis Lodge in Louisville, the Shriners and Sottish Rite.

Joe leaves behind:   His wife of 55 years, Sandra Caldwell Kerns of Columbia
Two daughters – Michele Kerns Schneider (Reed) of Nicholasville, Melissa Caldwell (special friend Stevie) of Columbia
Six grandchildren – Mark, Amanda, Bianca, Jared, James and Mia Grace
Seven great-grandchildren – Chey, Brianna, Logan, Blake, Abby, Kasen and Fiona
Two great-great grandchildren – Trey and Adalyn
One brother – Dallas Kerns of Cox’s Creek
One sister – Mable Barnes of Bardstown

Joe has chosen Cremation and no visitation or services are planned at this time.  A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Hosparus Green River and his special nurse, Kelly.

Euna Hixson Cravens

Euna Cravens, 86, of Columbia died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the University Of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.  Born in Casey County she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Minnie Thompson Hixson and wife of the late Orby Lawson.

Survivors include three children Douglas Edward Lawson of Columbia, Steve Lawson of Monticello, KY and Lisa Coffey of Russell Springs, KY; three siblings Byron Hixson, Ronald Hixson and Vera Davenport.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two children Bennie Ray Lawson and Kevin Bennett and a sister Wilma Johnson.

A private burial will be on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Columbia Cemetery.  Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles K. McBeath, 80, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his home. He was born September 22, 1939 in Russell County to Garnett Raymond McBeath & the late Mattie Bernice Ragle McBeath.

 He was a Veteran of U. S. Marines and a retired welder.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Michael Duncan, Jeffery Duncan.

Helen Daisy Smith, age 82 of New Palestine, Indiana formerly of Burkesville, KY  passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home. Helen was born on October 03, 1937 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Roscoe Crawley and Cecil Williams Crawley.  She was a longtime member of Burkesville Baptist Church until moving to New Palestine in 2017 where she joined the Southeast Baptist Tabernacle in Indianapolis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Cortis C. Smith and seven siblings.

Survivors Include:
Two Sons- Kenny(Lori)Smith of Converse, TX and Tony(Deann)Smith of Roanoke, TX
Two Daughters- Sandra(William)Stillman of Indianpolis, IN and Sherry(Daniel)Potter of Shickshinny, PA

Carl Dickson

Carl Dickson, 99, of Edmonton, KY died Friday, May 29, 2020 at his residence.  Born in Adair County he was the son of the late Charlie Lee and Emma Shirley Dickson and husband of the late Lucille Sexton Dickson.

Carl was saved at the age of 11 and became a member of the Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  During his 88 years of faithful membership he was a song leader, a deacon and a trustee for the church.  He was a member of the Dickson Quartet and retired from the Adair County School System after 53years of service as a bus driver and mechanic in the bus garage.
He is survived by three daughters Geneva England (Coy) of Edmonton, KY, Judy Dickson Grider (Billy) of Breeding, KY and Loretta Pennington (Elbert) of Breeding, KY; four grandchildren Teresa Harris (Ricky), Jeff Dickson, Roger Dickson and Christopher Pennington (Tara); two great grandchildren Ashley Wilson (Cameron) and Haylee Pennington; a brother Fred Dickson; a daughter-in-law Margie Dickson; a sister-in-law Ruby Dickson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son Cecil Dickson and three siblings Lula Mae Bragg, Marie Dickson and Ernest Dickson.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Shirley-Dickson Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00-8:00pm at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home and continue on Monday morning until 12:00pm at the funeral home.

Bro. Danny Dickson will be officiating and pallbearers will be Ricky Harris, Christopher Pennington, Howard Dickson, Cameron Wilson, Wesley Dickson and David England.

Flonnie Maxine Emerson Marple

Flonnie Maxine Emerson Marple, daughter of the late Nute Emerson and Pina Mae Scott Emerson, was born March 3, 1929 in Casey County, Kentucky. She died at 6:00 am on Friday morning, May 29, 2020, at Campbellsville Nursing & Rehab in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Age 91
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church and the pages of her Bible were worn from the many times she read it cover to cover.

Flonnie retired from Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, Kentucky, in 1984.  She always enjoyed family get togethers, and especially enjoyed cooking all the favorite foods of her children and grandchildren.  One of her favorites was making several different candies at Christmas.  She treasured every minute she spent with all of her family, and especially holding and rocking the grandbabies.  Flonnie always loved flowers of every kind, as well as gardening and canning.  She enjoyed shopping and she created many beautiful quilts over the years which will be forever cherished by her children and grandchildren.

She united in marriage to Oval Marple on September 7, 1948, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1994.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters:  Harris Marple (Mona) of Columbus, Ohio, Joan Lawhorn (Hershel) of Liberty, Freddie Marple (Sally) of Knifley, Steve Marple (Wendy)  of Campbellsville, Glenda Conner (Terry) of Stanford and Renee Quisenberry (Jerry) of Campbellsville; ten grandchildren: Jenni Marple (Janelle) of Nashville, Tennessee, Nick Marple (Janelle) of Cleveland, Ohio, Lee Ann Ross (David) of Louisville, Matthew Marple (Crystal) of Smiths Grove, Amanda Rudd (Rob) of Science Hill, Tonya Marple of Lexington, Jacqueline Marple of Georgetown, Jeremy Conner (Jill) of Danville, Andrew Conner of Stanford and Rachel Osborne (Austin) of Campbellsville; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Flonnie was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Ashley Brooke Conner and one brother and five sisters:  Arlis Emerson, Oma Carmon, Beatrice Lee, Lola Warner Sandusky, Lela Hoard and Alene Hicks.

The visitation and funeral are being held privately at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, Kentucky, for the immediate family only due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bro. Danny Pace and Bro. Jason Keltner will be officiating.

Sue Cundiff, 76, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the University Of Louisville Hospital.  Born in Adair County she was the daughter of the late Galeon and Sallie Keltner Janes and wife of the late Clyde Creal Cundiff.

Mrs. Cundiff was a member of the Pollards Chapel United Methodist and a former employee Adair County school system, Oshkosh and Fruit of the Loom.  She loved spending time with her family and singing.

Survivors include a daughter Marlene Clark (Jim) of Columbia; a son Brent Cundiff (Pam) of Glensfork; three grandchildren Jamie Seale (Craig), Craig Clark and Ty Cundiff; a great grandson Ezra Flatt; three brothers Ollen Janes (Bonnie), Payne Janes (Frances) and Herbert Janes (Becky) all of Columbia; two sisters Phyllis Stone (Jim) of Columbia and Retter Bailey of Campbellsville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers Lewis, Willard, Johnnie and Norman Janes and three sisters Ruth Burris, Ernestine Kemp and Frieda Smith.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Cane Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Bro. Victor Matney and Bro. Bill Davenport will be officiating and pallbearers will be Ty Cundiff, Craig Seale, Craig Clark, Lenny Stone, Wade Bailey, Kevin Smith and Ezra Flatt.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made for Gideon Bibles or the Cane Valley Cemetery Fund and can be left at the funeral home.

Robert "Bobby Gail" Shuffett

 Robert "Bobby Gail" Shuffett of Columbia, Kentucky, son of the late James Robert Shuffett and Georgia Mildred Wilson Shuffett, was born on Wednesday, August 22, 1945 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.  He was 74 years, nine months, and five days of age.

          He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a Chemistry and Biology Professor for 20 plus years at Lindsey Wilson College, and was owner of the Shuffett's Adult Day Care in Edmonton.  He was also a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army.

          Survived by a daughter: Elizabeth Shuffett and her fiancé, Ron Richardson both of Columbia; three grandchildren: Brayden RICHARDSON, Everly RICHARDSON, and Emberlyn RICHARDSON all of Columbia; a life partner: Charlene Daniels of Elizabethtown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

          The funeral services for Robert "Bobby Gail" Shuffett will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Central Time, Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Liberty Cemetery with military honors. Bro. Rickie Williams officiating.

          Due to State Mandates on public gatherings, there will be a walk through visitation with social distancing on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M., Central Time, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 11 A.M., Sunday until time of the funeral service.

Janet Gail Cabbell, 81, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Bowling Green Medical Center.

She was born April 3, 1939, in Marion County, to the late Ivan and Lula Bailey Cabbell and retired from the Adair County School System after over 30 years of teaching.

She is survived by her caregivers, Larry & Gail Powers and special friends, Mable Ruth Bryant, Gayle Garrison and Ada Cochran.
