Jeffrey Dale Stargle, 40, of Russell Springs, KY, passed away Monday, August 30th, at his residence. 

Jeffrey was born in Liberty, KY on April 25, 1981, a son of Glenda (Lafavers) Stargle, of Russell Springs, KY and Avin Stargle, of Russell Springs, KY. 

He worked on cars and loved demolition derby's. 

Jeffrey is survived by 
a daughter, Caitlin Stargle, of Russell Springs, KY; 
girlfriend, Barbara Williams, of Russell Springs, KY 
two sisters, Melissa Stargle, of Russell Springs, KY; Shelia Stargle, of Russell Springs, KY. 
two brothers, Tony Stargle, of Russell Springs, KY; Randy Stargle, of Jamestown, KY; 

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. 

Private Graveside Service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Russell Springs, KY, on Friday, September 3rd.

Marie Kelly George

Marie Kelly George, of Russell Springs, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Russell County Hospital.  She was 83 years of age.

Born on September 4, 1937, in Adair County, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Susie Keith Kelly.  Marie was a homemaker who loved to grow a big garden.  She enjoyed freezing and canning all of the vegetables her garden produced.  Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (and Hobie) Richards, Wanda Hammond, and Doris George Lendon, all of Russell Springs; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ben George, who passed away on August 18, 2008; three brothers, Earle Kelly, Willie Ray Kelly, and Elroy Kelly; and a sister, Lucille Cape.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Rippetoe Cemetery, in Jamestown, with Bro. Richie Curtis officiating.

Patricia Jean Hodge, 69, of Columbia, KY, died Sunday, August 29, 2021 at her home.

She was born July 24, 1952, to the late Joe Bob and Ruby Factor Hunter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Hunter Bray, Bobbie Pegg and Joyce Kelley.

Survivors include:
Her husband – Richard Hodge of Columbia, KY
One son – Daryl (Breanna) Bolin of Columbia, KY
Four daughters – Gina McInteer of Columbia, KY, Sara Hodge of Nashville, TN, Ellen Hodge and Nicole Hodge both of Columbia, KY
Four step children
Special child – Kylie Jade Watson
One sister – Frances (Billy) England of Anderson, IN
Seven grandchildren – Tyler Bolin, Samuel Locker, Alexander Bolin, Janson Hodge, Grayson McGowan, Kameron Rogers and Caitlin McInteer

George “Bud” Gilpin, 92, formerly of Adair County, died August, 28, 2021 in Scottsburg, IN.
He was the son of the late Arthur Bryant Gilpin and Mattie Mae Mann Gilpin.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Hayden Gilpin and Jimmy Gilpin and two sisters, Ethel Long and Clarice Ashby.

Survivors include:
One son – Gary (Elaine) Gilpin of Memphis, IN
One daughter – Sheryl Rippey of Columbia, KY
Five grandchildren – Michaele (Craig) Meredith, Terry (Kayla) Gilpin, Angela Gilpin, Rebekah Gilpin and Gabrille Gilpin.
Four great grandchildren – Hadley Gilpin, Zoey Meredith, Regan Gilpin and Elijah Meredith.
One brother – Jr. Gilpin of Columbia, KY

Funeral Service – Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Brad Burgess officiating.

​Ophelia Vae Coop, 82, entered Eternal Life Saturday, August 28, 2021.
 
Ophelia was born in Columbia, Kentucky to the late Oliver and Mary Elizabeth Powell. She was a member of Hikes Point Christian Church. She leaves a legacy of love and affection and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and mother-in-law.
 
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and beloved husband of 56 and a half years, Willie Van Coop; and sister, Trannie Sullivan.
 
Survivors include her sons, Gregory Van Coop (Eva) and Troy Sean Coop; granddaughters, Carissa Coop, Mikaela Coop, and Mackenzie Coop; sisters, Sarah Green (Bob) and Clora Pridemore; and many nieces and nephews.
 
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Her funeral service will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Kentucky.

Charles Roy Grider, 84, of Jamestown, KY, passed away Saturday, August 28th, at his residence. 

Charles was born in Jamestown, KY on June 19, 1937, a son of the late Eunice (Dunbar) and Vernon Cyrus Grider. 

He was a retired Project Manager at Wolf Creek and Laurel Dams. 

He was the husband of Virginia (Booher) Grider, of Jamestown, KY 

Charles is also survived by 
three daughters, Vickie, wife of Phil Grigson, of Paris, KY; 
Rhonda, wife of Paul Fister, of Lexington, KY; 
Stacey, wife of Scott Wade, of Chuluota, FL; 
daughter in law Marketta Grider, of Bowling Green, KY 
a sister, Radine Eastham, Dublin, OH 

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jordan Grider, Allison(Darel) Parrish, Whitney(Bryon) Ellis, Andrew(Melissa) Grigson, Erin Grigson, Chaz, Blake, and Rachel Fister, Ben Wade and Lauren(Cobie) Fendrich 
8 great grandchildren 

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Charles Scott Grider 

Graveside Service at Rexroat Cemetery, Jamestown, KY, at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 2nd, with the family doing the service. 

Friends may visit Thursday 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY

​Sharon A. Clayton born July 20, 1956, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the age of 65. Sharon was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mary (Radel) Clayton; loving wife of the late Gerald C. Burton; beloved mother of Teena (Laura) Burton and the late Scott Burton; cherished Granny of Skye, Wyatt, Scott Jr., Lucy and Carly; dear sister of Diana (Bryan) Bundy; amazing Aunt to Teresa Sturgill Eichelbrenner (Rob) and Great Aunt to Daniel and Michaella Eisele. She was loved by many cousins and family friends. 
 
Visitation to be held Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 5:00pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:00pm, both at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 5527 Cheviot Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45247. Graveside Funeral Services will take place on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 2:00pm at Bearwallow Cemetery in Columbia, Kentucky.

Dicy Coffey, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in Jamestown. She was 99 years of age.

Born on October 19, 1921, in Russell County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Idona Johnson Roy. Dicy was a homemaker, farmer, and caretaker. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. Dicy was the last survivor of eight brothers and three sisters.

Dicy is survived by her daughter, Janice (and Darrell) Clem, of Louisville.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Dicy was preceded in death by her husband, Ed T. Coffey, who passed away on August 21, 1998; and two daughters, Tena and Meredith Coffey.

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Troy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home.

The Coffey family requests everyone in attendance wear a facial covering and practice social distancing.

James A. “Jimbo” Hicks, age 88, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at his home.

Born September 4, 1932, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Johnnie and Lula Mae Wethington Hicks. Jimbo was a longtime dairy farmer. He enjoyed going to Crocket Trail for breakfast each day with his friends, where he just might do a little horse trading while he was there. He was a member Noel’s Chapel Church of God where he enjoyed Children’s Church. Jimbo enjoyed wagon trail rides, gardening, and cooking.

Survivors include his son, Barry (and Rachel) Hicks of Lancaster; daughter, Karen (and the late Randy) Wethington of Liberty; sister, Phyllis Lyons of Campbellsville; his grandchildren, which affectionately called him “PA”, Lyndsay Wethington, Alyssa Hicks, and the late Melanie Dawn Wethington; his great-grandchildren, Gracie and Ryder Wilson and Bo Rodgers; grandson-in-law, John Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, whom he wed on January 29, 1955, Evelyn Virginia Lane Hicks; brothers, Joseph Clement Hicks, William Junior Hicks, and Clifton Dale Hicks; and a sister, Wilma Joyce Hicks.

Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Cameron Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the Gum Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

The family requests that all attending wear a face covering.

Hue Zell Ford was born June 4, 1973 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Samuel Frank Ford and Fronnie Dunn Ford.  He departed this life Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky, having attained the age of forty-eight years, two months and twenty-three days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.  He was a restaurant worker.  He is preceded in death by two children:  Selena and Bre'don Ford, his brothers and sisters:  Shirley McDonald, Leandell Dunn, Charles Dunn and Edith Ford.

He is survived by his wife Erika Mitchell Ford, three sons and one daughter:  DaVonte and Ethan Ford of Campbellsville, Jaden Pierce of Greensburg and Laura Cain of Erlanger, KY, his mother-in-law:  Deborah Cowherd of Greensburg, one brother:   Sammy and Cora Dunn of Campbellsville, two sisters:  Alice and Sam Simmons and Zella Ford of Indiana and two grandchildren:  Shawn and Aria Cain, plus a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Hue Zell Ford will be conducted 1 p.m., Central Time, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens. 
Visitation will be from 11 a.m., Central Time, until the time of the service.
