William “Bill” Wesley Wilson, 73 of Garrard County and a resident of Thomson-Hood Veteran Center. He went home to be with Jesus on Friday, February 5, 2016. Born April 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Wesley Walls and Martha Preece Wilson.
Bill was a Vietnam US Navy Veteran. He was an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God and served as an evangelist and pastor for 52 years. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and wonderful “Poppie” to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Short Wilson; son, Paul W. (Michelle) Wilson of Horse Cave; daughter, Ingrid (Jonathan) Walker of Perryville; two sisters, Ann (Mark) Metcalf of Belmont, NC and Sharon (Wayne) Davis of Belmont, NC; three grandchildren: Aislinn Wilson, Hannah Walker and Ethan Walker; and a niece, Jennifer (Tony) Jackson of Belmont, NC and great nephew, Jay Jackson.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Teresa.
Services will be at 12 noon, Wednesday at the Danville Church of God (Fourth Street) by Rev. Ken Stroup, Rev. Bryan Montgomery and Rev. Jonathan Walker with burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 pm, Tuesday at the Danville Church of God and from 11-12, Wednesday at the church.
