Born May 17, 1923 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Ida Phillips Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist church. She was very dedicated to her family and the matriarch of her family. Virginia was a loving mother and a very good cook. She was an avid UK fan and loved the Cincinnati Reds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Wethington , who passed away September 29, 1980; brothers, William J.“Shud”, Wilbur, Wilder and Earl Brown; sisters, Christeen Fair, Emoline Wethington, Gertie Williams, Alene Toms, Floye Vaughn, Elsie Murphy and Ora Norfleet; a granddaughter, Chelsea Reynolds and; great-granddaughter, Sheyenne McVey.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Wethington of Clementsville and Donnie (and Sheila) McVey of Cincinnati, Ohio; six daughters, Louise (and H.T.) Logue of Texas, Brenda (and Jim) Goode of Campbellsville; Charlotte (and Scott) Marksberry of Owensboro, Martha Wethington of Knifley, Carmel Lee Marple of Lexington, and Regina (and Kevin)Reynolds of Lexington; ten grandchildren, Nelson and James McVey, Tonya and Jacqueline Marple, Courtney and Chadd Logue, Josh, Jordan and Brittany Goode, and Hannah Reynolds; six great- grandchildren, Shelby and Evan McVey, Grace, Josiah and Elijah McVey, and C.J. Bain.
Graveside services are 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Bernard Cemetery with Sister. Marietta Wethington officiating. Burial will follow service.
Visitation is Friday from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Prayers at 7:00 P.M.
Pallbearers are Josh Goode, Jordan Goode, Chadd Logue, James McVey, Nelson McVey and Josh Garcia.
