
After retiring from the Air Force, Roy began a successful career in the business world. He began his civilian career with American Airlines. He also worked for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation and for Hughes Training Incorporated, the company founded by Howard Hughes. He finished his career at Lockheed Martin Company in 2011.
Survivors include his dear wife, whom he wed on December 22, 1962, Bonnie Jean Wesley Emerson of Fort Worth, TX; sons, Judd (Kathleen) Emerson of Mansfield, TX and Brad (Amy) Emerson of Lakeland, TN; daughter, Ellen (Kendal) Ryter of Hamilton, Montana; brother, Gerald Ray (Carolyn) Emerson of Stanford, KY; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeffrey Gay Emerson; and sister, Sue Emerson Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, January 22, 2016, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Loren Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Springs Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Willow Springs United Methodist Church.
