He was born March 24, 1930, in Adair County, to the late Clarence and Nannie Hardin Goode. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, L.J. Goode.
He was a member and Deacon of Tabernacle Christian Church where he accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of VFW Post 6097 and a retired farmer.

One sister-in-law – Mary Goode of Columbia
Two grandchildren – Matthew Compton of Columbia, Taylor Abernathy of Russell Springs
Three step-grandchildren – Jerry Wayne Compton and Michael Compton both of Columbia, Kelli Parson and husband Patrick of Bowling Green
Five step-great-grandchildren, three step-great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends
