Richard Elvin Brown, 80, of Russell Springs, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Russell County Hospital. He was born April 11, 1935 in Russell Springs to the late Aught Brown and Cloda McFarland Brown. Richard had a deep devotion to his ministry of singing gospel music. He was the lead singer and emcee for southern gospel quartets in the Cincinnati, Ohio and Fort Wayne,
Indiana areas. In this endeavor, he rejoiced to see many people accept Christ as Lord and Savior. He move back to his home town of Russell Springs in the late 1990s.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Russell Springs. He also was a Veteran of United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers & sisters and several neices and nephews.

Survivors include Devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Centers Brown
Daughter: Terrie (Beckham) Wilson, Russell Springs
Two grandaughters: Abigail Wilson, Alexandra Wilson of Russell Springs
One brother: Glenn Brown, Loveland, Ohio
Host of neices and nephews

Funeral service for Richard Elvin Brown will be 10 AM. Friday, August 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Griffin officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM. to 8:00 PM. Thursday evening at the church.

Interment in the Union Cemetery (Gosser Ridge)

Special music: Kenneth Burnette, a friend and fellow partner who sang many years with Richard in gospel music.

Honorary Pallbearers: Beckham Wilson, Kenneth Burnette

Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs in charge of arrangements.
