He retired from the United States Army after 30 years service. He is preceded in death by two children: Betty and Henry Bethune and three brothers: Sylvester Bethune, Luther Bethune and Abraham Bethune.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Georgetta Bethune of Louisville, KY, sister: Marydell Holmes of New York and brothers Abram Bethune and Frank Bethune of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Michelle Bethune of Carrollton, Texas and Jason Bethune of Louisville, KY, three great grandchildren: Kelsi Thompson, Tremayne Kilgore Jr. and Brianna Bethune, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
