She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church. She held several jobs in her lifetime, however most notably she was a teller and office manager for the First National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky at Rockford Lane. After leaving that position, she went on to work for her husband, Dr. Elmo Hughes, Sr.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Jimmie Jo Chrysler. Also her husband, Elmo K. Hughes, Sr., M.D.; her twin brother: Billy Wayne Gumm; and sons: Elmo K. Hughes, Jr. and William Michael Hughes, Sr., M.D.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Vicki Chrysler, Diane and Barry Earle; a son and daughter-in-law: T.J. and Donna Hughes; a daughter-in-law: Donna Roberts Hughes, M.D.; eight grandchildren: Marissa Royalty, Michael Earle, Lauren Walker, Michael Hughes, Jr., M.D., Chris Hughes, Stephen Hughes, Tiffany Hughes, and Ryan Hughes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Rachel Jane Gumm Chrysler Hughes will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Central Time, Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Bennett Cemetery. Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, Greensburg in charge of the service arrangements.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Bennett Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
