Omer Lee Long, Sr. passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his home in Casey County, KY. He was 90 years young.
Born March 4, 1926 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Thomas Milton and Nettie Bell Barlow Long. He was a farmer and school bus driver. Omer attended the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Omer loved cutting hay, caring for his cattle, and riding the four wheeler. He enjoyed working and helping people. Omer was a kind and gentle man that loved kids and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Richardson Long, whom he married July 14, 1979; three sons, Danny (and Nancy) Long of Elkhorn, Tommy (and Rachel) Long of Elkhorn, and Omer Lee (and Heide) Long, Jr. of Elkhorn; two daughters, Donna (and Thurman) Glover of Elkhorn and Lee Ann (and Robert) Followell of Elkhorn; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Junior (and Juanita) Long of Liberty; and three sisters, Kathryn Scott of Liberty, Faye Murphy of Illinois and Barbara Hayes of Liberty.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David Long; and 21 siblings.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Pine Grove Community Church with Bro. Jeff Edwards officiating. Mr. Omer Lee Long, Sr. will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until funeral service at Pine Grove Community Church.
Pallbearers are Timmy and Terry Long, Chris and Dave Wheeler, and Robert Followell.
