He loved cabinet building and wood working. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Lexington. He was adored by two loving daughters, Bonnie (Terry) Spates and Judy (Gary) Carman. He had one special grandson and four special granddaughters. He was a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church since 1935.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He has one surviving sister Rethel (Donald) Bunton of Amelia, OH. Oakley's pain and suffering and trials of this life ended peacefully with his wife and daughter Judy beside him when the angels took him home. He is rejoicing with the Lord and family and friends that preceded him.
Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday January 26, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Mt. Olive Christian Church. Funeral Services Will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Mt. Olive Christian Church. Rev. Greg Powell officiating. Burial Durham Cemetery.
