Millard was born on May 3, 1926 in Harlan, KY to the late Patton Long and Nancy Hensley Long. He was a member of Huffaker Assembly of God where he loved serving his Lord and Savior. When he was unable to attend church he went to his garage and setup a place of worship that he called “The Old Path”. Millard loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Spurlock Long, whom he married in Whitesburg on October 29, 1948; his children, Doris (and Larry) Day of Union, KY, Mary (and James) Leffler of Berea, KY, Jimmy Long of Eubank, KY, Juanita (and Jerry) Roark of Florence, KY, Clara (and Jack) Disney of Wallins, KY, Sandy & (Gary) Smith of Berea, KY and Debbie (and Chester) Brock of Eubank, KY; two brothers, Roy Lee Long of Smith, KY and Barney (and Ruth) Long of Sevierville, TN; five sisters, Ella Smith of Somerset, KY, Betty Weaver of Cynthiana, KY, Lilly (and Frank) Daniels of Smith, KY, Oma (and Terry) Maxwell of Littleton, NC, and Delores Russell of Knoxville, TN; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Perry Long and Ambrose Long; son-in-law, Curt Simpson, Jr.; brothers, Joe, Aaron, Henry, Alford, James and Daniel Long; sisters, America Eldridge, Lucy Hamlin and Fannie Bowman; two infant grandchildren, Pamela Day and Eric Curtis Simpson; and mother and father-in-law, Anna Mae and Grant Spurlock.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 1:00pm at Huffaker Assembly of God. Bro. John Bruce of Milford, OH, Bro. Doug Daniel of Cawood, KY, Bro. Perry Long of Black Mountain, KY and Bro. Don King of Crab Orchard, KY will officiate the service. Burial will be at Woodstock Cemetery. Millard’s pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
