Mary Ruth Downs, age 87 of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Life Care Center of Bardstown.

She was born May 19, 1928 in Washington County. She was a former homemaker and member of Saint Augustine Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Francis Downs, Sr. (1959); two sons, Joseph Francis Downs, Jr. and David Michael Downs; one granddaughter, Theresa Mae Bickett; her father, Andy Coulter; her mother, Sherley Mae Mulberry Coulter; her step-mother, Mary Theresa Nalley Coulter; four sisters, Marie Elizabeth Spalding, Helen Frances Fryman, Margaret Louise Bryant and Mary Irene Wayne; two brothers, James Andrew Coulter and James Eugene Coulter.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Jeffries, Cil Wright (Bobby) and Janice Wilkerson (Gary) all of Lebanon; two sons, Billy and Chris Downs, both of Lebanon; one brother, Allen Coulter of Yelm, Washington; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 North Saint Francis Road, Loretto.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a rosary service at 7 PM by The Rev. Thomas E. Mattingly.

Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Bobby Wright, Jr., Gary Wilkerson, Joe Bickett, David Bickett, Michael Bickett and John Wright. Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
