Martha Dean (Murrell) Brockman, 85, of Beech Grove, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, in Beech Grove. She was born August 8, 1930, in Columbia, Kentucky, to her parents James A. and Mattie M. (Beard) Murrell. Martha married her husband, William Ores Brockman on January 1, 1949, in Glasgow, Kentucky.
She was an insurance agent for Brockman & Israel Insurance Company. She worked with the Gideons International, distributing Bibles. Martha was a member of JOY (Women’s group), and University Heights Christian Church. She attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, Greenwood. Martha enjoyed listening to gospel music, sewing, bird watching, and teaching Vacation Bible Church.
Martha is survived by two children; Debbie (Terry) Wieckert of Indiana, Jeff (Kimberly) Brockman of Nicholasville, Kentucky, a brother; William “Billy” (Rita) Murrell of Columbia, Kentucky, seven grandchildren: Melinda Nowacki, Brian Brunning, Matthew Brockman, Andrew Brockman, Amanda Patty, Kristina Welker, and Cassandra Carothers, and five great-grandchildren: Jonathan Frost, Brian Brunning, Keith Brunning, Mackenzie Welker, and Logan Welker.
She was preceded in death, by her husband, William Ores Brockman, her parents James and Mattie (Beard) Murrell, and a son-in-law, Robin Brunning.
The family is hosting a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 20, 2016 at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel. A service is being conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 also at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood
