He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon with Four Stars.
Louis retired from TGT after more than thirty-seven years’ service.
He was a member of the Pitman Mason Lodge #124 F & AM.
He united in marriage to Peggy Noel and she preceded him in death November 18, 2001.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim Bailey of Lexington; one grandson, Dusty Bailey and wife, Melissa of Lexington; two great-grandchildren: Emerson Bailey and Riley Bailey of Lexington; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Dr. Harold Wilkerson of Campbellsville; two aunts: Virginia Shipp of Campbellsville and Jean Dyer of Florida; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Shipp May 5, 1965.
