Born August 31, 1940 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Alvin and Ruby Marple Derringer. He was a retired truck driver with 54 years of service. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Liberty First Baptist Church. “Birdlegs” was a devoted family man. He loved playing music and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph Alvin Derringer of Lexington, Johnny Wayne Derringer of Campbellsville, James Ray Campbell of Bunnell, Florida, and Marcus Wayne Derringer of Yulee, Florida; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Linda Derringer, Marilyn June Godsey, Judy Gabehart, and Norma Jane Derringer.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery with military honors by Caswell-Saufley American Legion Post.
Visitation is Tuesday from 6:00-9:00 P.M at the funeral home.
