Jerry Edwards, age 74, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Friday, April 15, 2016 at his residence. Jerry was born on July 23, 1941 in Somerset, to the late Gilbert and Velva Hargis Edwards. Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed carpentry, building, collecting trains, knives, guns, coins and Shawnee Indian pottery. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, a retired general contractor, and a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Brown Edwards, who he married on September 19, 1962 in Somerset; four daughters, Tammy (and Tom) Eastham of Somerset, Robyn (and Stewart) Bunker of Taunton, MA; Penny Fitzpatrick of Somerset; Cindy (and Mitch) Whitescarver of Somerset; two brothers, Gilbert (and Jane) Edwards of Somerset, Robert (and Kathy) Edwards of Somerset; three sisters, Verna Dick of Somerset, Lois Allen of Somerset, Janet (and Jerry) Foster of Nancy, KY; nine grandchildren, Thomas Eastham of Richmond, KY, Kayla and Lucas Milby of Greensburg, KY, Paige Gadberry of Corbin, KY, Tanner Gadberry of Somerset, Emory and Abby Whitescarver of Somerset, Peyton and Ella Bunker of Taunton, MA, Jon Fitzpatrick of Somerset; two great grandchildren, Kinley Gadberry and Braisley Milby; very special family friends, Stephanie Mounce and Samantha Benge; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jim” Edwards; and a brother in law, James “Jimmy” Dick.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 17, 2016 after 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Bullock and Bro. Scotty Nix officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Military Honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post 38. Pallbearers will be; Tom Eastham, Mitch Whitescarver, Thomas Eastham, Tanner Gadberry, Lucas Milby, and Jon Fitzpatrick.
The family request expressions of sympathy to be made to the Buck Creek Baptist Church.
