Janice was born on September 22, 1943 in Shady Grove, KY to the late Woodrow Thompson and Julia Wiles Thompson. She was a devoted member of the Naomi Nazarene Church where she was very active in the local congregation. Janice loved her Lord and Savior very much. At church she was the missionary president, song leader, director of the choir and board member. She also loved to sing solo’s and sing with her other fellow church members. Janice worked at Palm Beach for over 25 years and then went on to work at Hitachi Manufacturing in Jamestown, Kentucky until her retirement.
She is survived by a son, Michael Edward (and Norma Jean) Dick of Somerset, KY; a daughter, Donna Jeanette Tarter of Somerset, KY; three brothers, Jim (and Sharon) Thompson of Sharonville, OH, Darrell Thompson of Science Hill, KY and Rick Thompson of Science Hill, KY; two sisters, Linda (and Ronald) Dick of Nancy, KY and Eunice (and Gary) Irvine of King Bee, KY; two grandchildren, Jessica Tarter and Austin Tarter; step grandchildren, Billy (and Jamie) Bolin and Kris (and Tiffany) Bolin; and step great-grandchildren, Madison, Matthew, Piper and Maverick.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Dick; and an infant son, Gerald Dick.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 29, 2016 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00am with Bro. Daryl Hodge and Bro. Brian Fudge officiating. Burial will be at Sweet Cemetery in Nancy, KY.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Naomi Nazarene Church.
