He was retired from Southern Railroad and was an US Air Force veteran. He enjoyed fishing and working with wood.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Hubbard Bandy, a son, Brian Bandy and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Bandy.
He is survived by a son, Shea (Kellie) Bandy of Hustonville; daughter, Melissa Bandy of Clay City; three sisters: Carolyn Yowell of Hustonville and Peggy Mitchell and Cathy VonGruenigen, both of Danville; and two grandchildren, Shealy and Tabor Bandy.
Services will be at 1 pm, Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Rev. David Smith with visitation after 12 pm. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Friday at 1:30 pm, leaving the funeral home at 12:45 pm.
Pallbearers are Shealy Bandy, Tabor Bandy, Jimmy Yowell, Scott Yowell, Heath Alford, Jonah Ursprung and Mark Powell. Dalton Summer is an honorary pallbearer.
