He was born on March 26, 1937 in Breathitt County to the late Alex Cole and Mattie Combs Cole. James was a member of Neeley’s Creek Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Super Service. He enjoyed watching ballgames and racing. He was a member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine “Jill” Haynes Cole, whom he married on September 24, 1960; two sons, James Timothy Cole (and Candace McKnight) of Bronston and Russ (and Donna) Behling of Watertown, WI; three daughters, Kelly Jean (and Richard) Troxell of Burnside, Sheila Kay Hainey of Somerset and Theresa Lynn (and Jessie) Herald of Jackson, KY; three sisters, Mary (and “Red”) Griffith of Newport, KY, Phyllis Deaton of Jackson, KY and Brenda (and Doug) Turner of Jackson, KY; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 4, 2016 after 6:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge #634 of Burnside, at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday. There will also be a visitation on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Neeley’s Creek Baptist Church.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 12:00pm at Neeley’s Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Fry and Bro. Leo Richardson officiating. Burial will be at Neeley’s Creek Cemetery.
