James Albert Cross

James Albert Cross, age 82, of Campbellsville died Monday, May 30, 2016 at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born May 27, 1934 in Green County to the late William Alonzo “Lonnie” and Mattie B Wright Cross. James worked for 20 years in the school system in Columbus, Indiana and was also a retired farmer. Before going into the nursing home you would often find James enjoying one of his favorite past times, working in his yard. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Campbellsville.

Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by two wives, Elizabeth Curry Cross and Pearl Cross as well as 2 sisters, Ruby Nell Cross and Wanda Jean Cross and one brother Vernon Lee Cross. 

He is survived by his wife Margaret Cross of Campbellsville; one daughter, Brenda Gayle Bowers and her husband Roger of Butlerville, IN; two sons, Rick Allen Cross and his wife Betsy and Danny Wayne Cross of Columbus, IN; two sisters, Correll and her husband, William “Fats” Coffey and Elizabeth Coffey, and one brother, Otis Coffey, all of Greensburg, Kentucky; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive. Also surviving is one step-son Donald Davis and his wife Sharon of New Mexico and one step-grandchild. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. 

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
