HUGH "RICKY" AKIN

HUGH "RICKY" AKIN, 65 years of Russell Springs, KY passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 5:52 pm at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY after several months illness.

He was born in Chance, KY on March 6, 1950 the son of the late: Oris Guy and Dortha Mae Stotts Akin of Adair County, Kentucky

Mr. Akin was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister Enola Grant in 2014 and by one infant brother Oris Guy Akin Jr. 

Survived by his wife: Sandra Bridgwater Akin of Russell Springs, KY

One son: Tim Akin and wife: Lori of Columbia, KY 
One daughter: Kimberly Mitchum and husband Tony of Glensfork, KY
One step daughter; Amy Kerr and husband Robert of Russell Springs, KY

Two step sons; 
Chuck Smith of Jeffersonville, Indiana
Joe Smith and wife Beverly of Danville, KY 
Three brothers; Glendale Akin of Fairplay, KY, David Akin of Columbia, KY and Larry Akin of Des Moines, Iowa
One sister: Cathy Grant of Scottsville, KY 
Three grandchildren; Parker Akin, Monica McElyea, Holli Mitchum, 
Five Step Grandchildren; Sarah Crisham, Laura Popplewell, Stefan Smith, Brayden Smith, Braxton Smith and survived by three great grandchildren

Ricky was the owner of Akin Concrete Construction for several years and a member of the Calvary Temple

Funeral service: Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home 

Clergy officiating: Rev. Homer Stephens and Bro. Troy McWhorter

Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery 

The family request visiting after 3:30 PM on Saturday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home
