Born January 19, 1917 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Cale and Hattie Estes Brown. She was a homemaker and former school teacher during WWII. She was a member of the Carr’s Chapel Church of God. She loved to sew, quilt and garden. Hazel was born, raised and lived in the same house her entire 98 years of life.
Survivors include a son, Jackie (and Patricia) Brown of Somerset; daughter, Louise Steadman of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Brown, who died December 31, 1980 and daughter, Darlene Brown.
Funeral services are 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 6, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Liberty Care & Rehabilitation Center in memorial of Hazel Brown.
