
Gladys was born on January 16, 1921 in Russell County, KY, to the late Minnie and Belonia Kissee Roy.
Gladys was a homemaker, a seamstress, and a wonderful gourmet cook. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of Cedar Point Baptist Church. Her life centered on her compassion for her family, friends, and community.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (and Cecelia) Butcher of Somerset, KY; three brothers, Oval (and Phyllis) Roy of Nancy, KY, Ertis (and Faye) Roy of Ingle, KY, Larry (and Nancy) Roy of Ingle, KY; a grandchild, Matthew Dalton; a great grandchild, Cody Dalton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family relatives.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rollin Butcher; second husband, Hobert Wilson; four brothers, Ronald Roy, Arlis Roy, Gary Roy, and Gene Roy; two sisters, Ovaline Whittle, and Lafern Dunham.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will follow the visitation on Sunday, at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Caldwell and Bro. O’Neal Wade officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Russell County. Pallbearers will be; Andrew Roy, Steve Roy, Allen Roy, Chris Roy, Greg Roy, and James Whittle.
The family requests expressions of sympathy to be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
