George Ernest Callahan

George Ernest Callahan, 92 of Danville, died Monday November 23, 2015. Born March 6, 1923 in Grundy, Ky. he was the son of the late John and Alta Randall Callahan. George retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. George also retired from the U.S. Post Service after 22 years of service. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers, Irwin and Glenn Callahan.

George is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois June Jenkins Callahan, four sons, Robert (Frida) Callahan of Somerset, Tom (Chris) Callahan if Az., Robert Tanner and Matthew Callahan, both of Danville, three daughters, Mary Callahan of Tn., Debbie Holley of Or., and Jessica Callahan of Peewee Valley, two brothers, Billy (Edwinna) Callahan and James (Doris) Callahan both of Somerset, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m., Friday November 27, 2015 at Stith Funeral Home with Brother James and Brother Johnny Baker officiating.

Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 11 – 1p.m., Friday November 27, 2015 at Stith Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Samaritan's Purse.
