She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was also a former machine operator for Sumitomo and was a farmer.
Survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Penny Warf of Breeding; her companion: Geneal Warf of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Erica She Jones and her husband, Matthew of Greensburg, Clinton Keith Warf and his husband, Joshua Morehead of Paducah, Tanesha Smith and her husband, James of Columbia, and Joshua Warf of Columbia; four great-grandchildren: Eric Riley Pegram, Kaylee Shae Judd both of Greensburg, Trenton Smith, and Shawn Smith both of Columbia; two sisters and three brothers: Florence Wyatt, Shirley Long both of Indiana, Dean Simpson of Greensburg, Wayne Simpson of Indiana, and Junior Simpson of Edmonton; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Ms. Akin was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: James C. Simpson, Bob Simpson, Dilma Harris, and Lola Simpson.

The funeral services for Geneva Joyce Akin will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Judd Cemetery. Les Milby officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Monday until time of the funeral service.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Hosparus of Barren River or Breast Cancer Awareness, which can be made at the funeral home.
