Born August 25, 1940 in Brookville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Morgan Ponder. He was the owner /operator of a tree trimming business. He loved animals.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Jean Ponder; and two sisters, Wanda Joyce Ponder and Sarah Ponder.
Survivors include a son, Franklin Ponder, Jr. of Troy Grove, IL; three daughters, Mona Suggs of Mendota, IL, Barbara Anthony of Troy Grove, IL , and Amanda Eames of Compton, IL; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers, Jimmy, Robbie, Eddie, and Paul Ponder; five sisters, Thelma Shirey, Bonnie Smither, Pauline Durham, Margaret Black and Francis Davis; his companion, Francis Bolen; and his dog, Rattler.
Cremation rites were honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. No services will be held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be given to Lake Cumberland Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
