Fern J. Austin passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at her home in Casey County, KY. She was 86.
Born April 7, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy Landewitch Hagemeyer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fern was a retired registered nurse for the Casey County Hospital and a former volunteer at Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bert Austin, whom passed away in 1995; one brother; and a sister.
Survivors include four sons, Jeffrey Austin of Nashville, TN, Daniel (and Alana) Austin of Goose Creek, SC, Bradley (and Carolyn) Austin of Berea, and Joel (and Carol) Austin of Liberty; a daughter, Rebecca Austin (and Lester) of Mt. Salem; seven grandchildren, Amy Lynn, Taylor, Chris, Morgan, Wade, Samuel, and Jessica; five great-grandchildren, Blake, Hannah, Isabella, Sophia, and Tiffany; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
