He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Maple Hill United Methodist Church. He was a self-employed carpenter, contractor, and farmer. He was also a veteran having served in the United States Army.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Phala Devore Blaydes of Green County, having united in marriage on December 22, 1963.
Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Greg and Mary Blaydes of Midway, and Chris and Amy Blaydes of Campbellsville; a daughter and son-in-law: Allyson and Jason Davis of Edmonton; seven grandchildren: Zac Blaydes, Will Blaydes, Drew Blaydes all of Midway, Braxton Davis, Braelyn Davis both of Edmonton; Mia Blaydes and Molly Blaydes both of Campbellsville; a sister: Marjorie Knight of Indiana; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Blaydes was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister: William Blaydes and Ann Mary Shirley.
The funeral services for Mr. Edwin "Junior" Blaydes will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Central Time, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Maple Hill Community Cemetery. Bro. Pat Humphrey, Bro. John Blakey, and Bro. Victor Matney officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Thursday until time of the funeral service.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, Maple Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, or the Maple Hill Community Cemetery which can be made at the funeral home.
