Edgar Holmes, 94, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home.

He was born February 13, 1921, in Adair County, to the late Alonzo and Florence Burton Holmes.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryn Burris Holmes, his son, Edgar Holmes, Jr., his son-in-law, Darrell Justin Baker, three brothers and two sisters, Carl, Herbert & J.C. Holmes, Marie Vaughn, Lucille Roy.  Edgar was a US Army Veteran serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of VFW Post 6097, a retired mechanic and he attended 3Trees Church and Heritage Hope Church of God.

Survivors include:
His daughter – Nancy Baker of Nancy, KY
One brother – Charles Holmes of Shepherdsville
His daughter-in-law – Wanda Holmes Mauk of Columbia
Three grandchildren – Angie Baker (Mike) Truett of Nancy, Beth Holmes of Columbia, Lance Eric Baker of Nancy
Three great-grandchildren – Chandler Justin Truett, Paige Truett, Sophia Baker
Several other relatives and friends also survive

Funeral service – Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dunbar and Bro. Charles Holmes officiating

Burial in Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097

Visitation after 4:00 P.M. Thursday
Casket Bearers:  Mike Truett, Chandler Truett, Lance Baker, Steve Burris, Danny Burris, Jeff Burris, Butch Thurman, Larry Mauk

Honorary:  Morgan Long, Chris Stephens, Greg Brock, Gary Simpson

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
