David L. McWhorter, SGT Maj., USMC Retired, of Columbia, Kentucky, died peacefully with his family by his side at his home on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.
He was born August 19, 1947, in Albany, Kentucky, to the late Larry McWhorter and Mary Lee Willen McWhorter. David served two tours in Vietnam, receiving two Purple Heart awards, retiring from the US Marine Corps. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret (Nell) Hunt and his brother, Carl McWhorter.

His mother – Mary Lee Willen McWhorter of Albany
Two daughters – Angela McWhorter, Lee Ann Martin (Britt) all of Hillsboro, NC
Step-children – Allie Bryant (Clint), Jeff Ayers (Ashley) all of Cincinnati, OH
One brother – Jimmy McWhorter (Diane) of Louisville
Two sisters – Olene Wray, Erlene McMackin (Doug) all of Louisville
Grandchildren – Jackson & Maisie
Several other relatives and friends
Memorial service – Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015 at 12:30 P.M. at his home with VFW Post 6097 presenting full military honors
Cremation has been chosen
