Born February 21, 1936, in Liberty, KY, he was a son of the late John Harrison and Cora Henderson Rayburn. He was a retired school teacher of 33 years in Goshen, OH. Chester also managed a hardware store for 8 years. He was a US Army Veteran and also served in the Kentucky and Ohio National Guard. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Chester was a member of the Little Cowan Baptist Church in Whitesburg, KY, where he served as a Deacon. He also often attended the Liberty First Baptist Church. Chester served as a Boy Scout Master and Demolay advisor.
Survivors include his wife, whom he wed February 3, 1960, Verna Banks Rayburn; son, Kevin D. (and Melissa) Rayburn of Leitchfield; daughter, Renee (and Shawn) Stevenson of Columbus, OH; and 9 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eula McAninch and Mildred Wethington; brother-in-law, Curtis Wethington; and one grandchild, Joseph Rayburn.
There will be a graveside memorial service at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Glenwood Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with military funeral honors by the Casey County Honor Guard. There will also be masonic rites held at 2:00PM on Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery.
