Charles Ray Willett, 81, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in Lexington. He was born in Washington County, Kentucky on January 10, 1934 to the late Claudia Prudence Cusick and Thomas Herschel Willett.
Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Mattingly Willett, who passed away October 15, 2015; his siblings, Mary Alice Higdon, Dorothy Blandford, Margie Johnston, Thomas Herschel Willett, Jr., John W. Willett, James Edward Willett, Joseph Bertrum Willett and Xavier Russell Willett.
He is survived by sisters Juanita Lewis and Shirley Woods. Charles is also survived by his beloved daughters Debra Willett Hupman (Steve) and Fran Willett Elder (David), his grandchildren, Ashton Katherine, Charles Benton and Ann Merrick Hupman, to whom he was totally devoted.
Charlie leaves behind a legacy of hospitality and generosity to all he knew. He will be remembered for his amazing cooking abilities, especially his fried chicken and fish, much to the delight of many visitors to his home. An avid fisherman, Charlie loved fishing trips, and bonfire with his many nephews and friends.
Visitation is at Bosley Funeral Home Wednesday, December 30th from 9 am to 11 a, with a prayer service held at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Augustine School or to the Arthritis Foundation.
